Closest province is Ontario, abt 450 miles away at Niagara Falls.
Closest state is Michigan, abt 520 miles.
Then again, I may have been to both of these places as a very young child, I'm not sure.
I really should go to both, as I have historical family connections to both places.

Minnesota ... extremely surprised I have never made it up there.  Might try to go to the Eagles/Jimmy Buffett show in Minneapolis next summer.

Well, I've only been in California for a few months now, but I've never been to Nevada, unless you count an airport layover I once had in Las Vegas.  If that counts, then I guess the answer would be Oregon.

I've never been to Delaware except when I've driven through on roadtrips.

Ohio, Kentucky are two others semi-close states I've never visited.

Now that I'm in Oklahoma for a brief Thanksgiving break, the answer is Louisiana.

If I go to Arkansas,  then I'll finally have a line from sea to shining sea.

(It'd be Oregon if I consider my California base)

Though I've only barely been to Kansas.  My mom and I were in Lincoln, NE, and to took a little drive south across the border, just so we could say we've been there.  We didn't even get out of the car.

I wouldn't mind actually spending time in Kansas, though.  Lawrence sounds like a good place.

It's also an interesting philosophical question if you have been to a state if you've flown over it.

When I lived in Australia, I made two trips to Europe, with flights: Sydney->Bangkok->London on one trip, and Perth->Kuala Lumpur->London on another.  I thereby flew over much of Eurasia, so if flying over is good enough, then I've "been to" India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, etc.  That seems like cheating though.
