Why would he win in a landslide w/mediocre polling numbers?

Why do some argue that Rendell will, too?

Answer: Put up a weak opponent and the incumbent will win easily.

Then again, Romney does seem to have a strong opponent (The MA Attorney Gen.)

I'm starting to doubt that Rendell with as big of a margin as I originially projected.  However, unless Swann turns out to be a terrific candidate, I still think Rendell will win by at least six points.

let me predict his future resume....

2007-  insurance salesman.

Walter, you are being far too harsh on Mitt, the greatest executive and political mind of this generation.

If he runs for re-election as Governor, he will win in a landslide.

Whether he runs for re-election as Governor or not, he will be continuing to lay the groundwork for his inevitable and inexorable ascendancy to the Presidency of the United States.

Hey, I can be optimistic, can't I?

Just be aware that blind optimism leaves yourself open to all kinds of criticism.  Romney might win if he ran for re-election; and, he might not.  It certainly isn't a sure thing that he would win, and certainly not in a landslide, as you have stated like it's a fact.

You've covered your bases, Romney might win and he might not win.  I don't know why anybody would or should criticize anybody else for making a statement on the outcome of some future election.  Disagree, yes, but, hey, if any wish to criticize my statement on the outcome of some possible future election, feel free.

This forum should, after all, be a free exchange of ideas and views.

The thing is, the polls in MA (and past results) show that there's very little chance of Romney winning a landslide.  You seem to feel that it's a fact that if he runs, he takes 55%+.  You can say whatever you like, just be aware that going against reality (for lack of a better term) will get you criticized.
