Yes, Sen. Menendez is one step closer to proving himself innocent.

"The Jury Hung" is hardly a good moral ground for re-election.

Begone ye wastrel! Begone I say!

Why? Serious question. His only claim to fame is, well, corruption allegations.

No, but I don't want him to resign or be primaried - I want him to be tarred and feathered by the whole electorate, via defeat by a republican in Nov. '18.

His major speech against PROMESA, overall very liberal on the issues.

The only Dem Senator who needs to be primaried is Ben Cardin and Dianne Feinstein

Menendez and Cardin are virtually twins on foreign policy, solid4096. I thought you were dovish?

No, not at all. If he wins the primary I will enthusiastically support the Republican.

No. The new progressive thing to do is to support Republicans.

Even if he beats these charges he will still be toxic and politically useless in the Senate even when the Democrats regain a majority. He'll be an impotent stereotype of all of the negative aspects of New Jersey politics.

I really hope he resigns or gets primaried, and he probably will.

I don't think he should have to resign, but I would prefer if he didn't run for reelection. I feel like this general election will be competitive when it doesn't need to be. I'd rather have a different Democrat run so The national party doesn't have to spend money here, especially when we have other vulnerable senators to protect.

In no way am I defending Menendez here, but this case is yet more evidence that the U.S needs major campaign finance reform, even if it takes a Constitutional Amendment to achieve it.

I'd love to see him primaried, but if anyone did they'd be isolated. New Jersey Dems like Booker are defending him hardcore.

Absolutely not. This is NJ, so the best case is if Doug Forrester runs and forces NJ Democrats to replace him with someone better like they did in 2002.

I think he should retire/not run but I also see why they don't want to waste money on defending an incumbent in a safe seat.

No, and I hope to God that he gets primaried out, but if he ends up as the nominee again, I'd support him over any NJ GOPer.

Looks like Menendez might get primaried by former Clinton/Obama campaign staffer Michael Starr Hopkins. I hope Hopkins, who is Black, can tap into the Black vote in the state and crush Menendez in the primary.
