Maybe Moore should've diddled some more kids if he was always going to get away with it.

That is the whole point.  You have no proof he diddled any kid in the last 40 years.

I don't know why defending a kiddy diddler is the hill you want to die on.

I agree with the posters elsewhere that a Democrat wave is building.  That danger is the final reason to support Moore. The GOP has things to accomplish, especially regarding the courts.  We cannot allow another Democrat in now, who will try to screw up the works.

I want the courts to at least give me and the country protection from some of the thinking of some hard left Democrats.
Pedophiles: at least they're not Democrats.

He is not a pedophile.  If they occurred, they were 40 years ago.  A person can be forgiven for acts 40 years.  The GOP if it wakes up can expel him he lied about the yearbook.  The proof would come handwriting analysis not DNA analysis.
A person cannot be forgiven for child molestation, especially when they refuse to admit what happened.

(can't wait to get death points for this message. worth it.)

I am also a survivor.  My father was an alcoholic and was never in my life. Never had a good day with him in my life.  When I was 14 almost 15 I became active in the Republican Party. For a year a man groomed me and struck when I was 16. Luckily, I had the sense to put a stop to it right then.  I almost let it go on, as I was craving male attention. My father later killed my aunt, his sister, who provided him with lodging, so he was not homeless.  After killing his sister he committed suicide.

I have suffered for years with depression and suicidal thoughts.   I and my counselors assumed it arose from the above described  events.  However, about 10 years ago I learned that depression can be caused by severe head injuries.  When I was 8, I tripped over a bat.  I hit my head on the floor.  I was out like a light for a day and half.  I started taking seizure medication.  It relieved much of my depression.

I have also discovered that fall may have caused the Parkinson’s I now struggle with. But the Parkinson’s medication seems to have relieved the remaining depression.

I was lucky enough to marry a wonderful woman who was able to stay with me in spite of my overwhelming depression.  I have a wonderful son.  He is living the political life I wish I had had in the DC area with his wife and two boys. Faith in God also helped through my life.

Sometimes I wish my molester has died of AIDS. Other times I hope he has reformed and found peace. The real damage he did was to destroy our one year relationship and my relationship with men in general.  His actions confirmed my mistrust of men developed by my father.

So this all leads me to the point that everyone who posts here need to stop their personal attacks on people they do not know who post here.  Everyone needs to stop the use of foul language.  Folks tend to use language on the internet they would not use in person.

With respect to the two accusers who relate true sexual offenses, I would suggest the offenses  are not heinous enough to disqualify a man who has had a 40 year period of no additional charges. I have serious reservations about Nelson’s claims.  I do not believe that either accuser has revealed sufficient trauma from one incident with no grooming to overcome 40 years of no charges.

If strange or brooks had won the GOP primary, what would the polls currently show? Maybe strange +7 and Brooks +15?

Probably a larger margin than that for Strange, at least +10.  Your +15 for Brooks sounds reasonable.

There was a poll that showed Strange trailing Jones by more than Moore. Obviously that's highly unlikely and we will never really know, but my guess is something like Strange +3-5 and Brooks +9-14.

Why are so many people acting as if Jones has this in the bag? Everybody is thinking about their own decency and forgetting about Alabama's.

Anyway, I haven't seen much evidence of massive movement in aggregate polling where it counts, which is Jones' percentage of the vote. He was basically hovering between 42-44% prior to this; even if you include the garbage 1-day polls and polls from questionable pollsters (pretty much all we have), the past 7 or so polls put him at an average of 44%.

Moore's percentages have dropped; Jones have stayed the same. This is the classic recipe of a Southern election where supposedly-principled Republicans temporarily jump ship before flocking back by Election Day, along with all of the "independents" and "undecideds". If Jones isn't sitting at 50% in aggregate polling or ahead by 4-5 points consistently, he isn't going to win.

A write-in candidate is the only thing that would reliably hand it to Jones.
rai

The comment at the Daily Caller last week, when this, was raised, stated the military man running as a write-in had attended at least one fundraiser for Jones.  They were complaining.  But most things are fair in war, love, and politics.

The fact that you literally plant the life or death of your fortunes on predictit is beyond stupid IceSpear. One day you'll make a major error and lose big.

Eh, let him. Maybe he'll learn a lesson someday. Or not. I find the people who talk the most often have be least to say.

While Icespear could be totally correct, I believe many will remember his constant"Hillary is inevitable" hackish tirades last year, so like back then, I will not be totally surprised if Jones wins by 5.

I think write ins could get a decent proportion of the vote, by it's still out whether they will hurt Moore or Jones more.

Trump has openly endorsed Moore, and McConnell has decided to likely not do anything about it if Moore does win. This is some serious rot.

I do not think it will be totally within their control.  They will have to seat him.  But McConnell wil be under tremendous pressure to hold a hearing into whether Moore lied to the people of Alabama about the yearbook.  Collins could use the failure to have a hearing to bolt. Or she, Murkowski, McCain, Flake, and others could make it difficult to get to 50 votes on other issues.

I believe their will be a hearing on the lying. Then we can see Gloria in all her glory.  I can’t lose that hearing.  It is a win-win for me.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-endorses-roy-moore-need-vote-124014388.html

Donald Trump recently endorsed Roy Moore while he called Doug Jones weak on crime. I'll bet that he described his high school principal as "weak on crime".

It could be a good thing that McConnell isn’t saying he’ll expel Moore anymore. Some Republicans may have been justifying their Moore vote on the basis that he would get removed if he won.

True, but at the same time, maybe McConnell saying he won't expel Moore makes some establishment GOP voters more likely to vote for Moore.

One of the accusers dug up a graduation card signed by Moore and it was verified by a forensics specialist.

Look, Middle America is misogynist. This is no surprise. Moore’s Defense is “well it was 40 years ago.” People don’t realize the reason it takes 40 years for this stuff to come out is precisely what’s going to happen next week.
