Trump considered a 2012 independent run and changed his party to that for a few months for that reason. Say he goes through on his wish, what would be his campaign message, what percent do you think he would get and where do you think he would perform best at in terms of states and do you think he could have pulled off at least 1 electoral vote by something like Maine's second district?

I think he might get 5 percent of the vote and maybe Maine's second district but nothing really beyond that

I'd agree with you, he probably gets around 5% of the vote. I don't think he wins any states/Congressional Districts though.

He probably does as well as Ross Perot in 1996. He wins around 8 or 9 percent of the Popular vote, but no electoral votes. Obama still wins the election though.

I agree with this. Trump would be seen as a spoiler by many in the GOP, so he's not getting anywhere near the Republican nomination in 2016. My guess is Rubio or Cruz would end up the nominee.

He wins the state of denial, and all of its electoral votes.

Obama gets the '08 map, except no Indiana and possibly a Missouri or Montana flip depending on how much Trump spoils.
