Bernie Sanders wins the Democratic nomination after dominating the Washington D.C primary, and successfully flipping enough super delegates, by citing Hillary Clinton's email scandal. He selects Bill De Blasio as his running mate.

As IRL Donald Trump wins the GOP nomination, and selects Mike Pence as his running mate.

I could see Sanders winning in 2016, but no way in hell he wins with Bill De Blasio as his running mate. Trump easily gets a 370+ Electoral Vote landslide.

Anyone more moderate than De Blasio/Warren etc. leaves Sanders open to charges of being a sellout from his base.

Not to mention, I'm pretty sure De Blasio did not endorse Clinton until after she won the nomination IRL, like Warren (who probably would be a better pick, but De Blasio is younger, which probably influences Sanders's decision).

Unless Cuomo/Gillibrand/Schumer endorse Trump (very unlikely) New York isn't flipping.

As for New Jersey, it's slightly more likely, but it would need a perfect campaign from Trump, something I just don't see him doing. Ditto with Illinois (though a stronger Trump performance could allow Mark Kirk to win re-election).

What votes could Bloomberg possibly get in a race that already will have McMullin and Gary Johnson (I'll admit, Stein won't do so well, because Sanders and De Blasio share almost all of her issues) running as Independents/Third Parties?
