Unless two half-Asian people get married, half-Asian men can often be handsome in their own

1.a) Routine male infant circumcision is mostly a good thing and never should have been abandoned in the US.

1.b) UK/European opposition to circumcision is based on more on spurious cultural biases than anything scientific.

Spam is actually quite tasty. Its bad reputation is based on how it appears uncooked, which is silly since it's not a food you're supposed to eat uncook. It's like complaining about how uncooked bacon is gross. Also its association with internet spam.

There is nothing dangerous or unhealthy about GMO foods.

Settled science doesn't really fit here IMO.

Plus all GMOs do is use science to expedite the evolution process that humans have been putting food through for decades. See what bananas, corn, carrots, potatoes, watermelon, etc. looked like prior to the modern era. The earliest corn just grew a few kernels on a stalk, and what exists today is the result of centuries of selective breeding. GMOs speed up the process and let what took centuries be done in a couple years instead. It's nothing new.

Virtually all pagan religions were evil and it's a good thing they were wiped out. They were in effect far closer to ISIS than whatever New Age hippie weirdos who claim to practice them today are.

While I am generally a GMO/agroscience supporter, I will caveat this by saying that there is nothing inherently dangerous or unhealthy about consuming GMO foods.

I do have the yellow fever, but for real women and not cartoons. Cosplay is also weird to me. My best friend from middle school, who I’ve grown apart from over the years, is really into it but I just think it’s flat out strange.
>pretending "Girls und Panzer" isn't your thing

Not inherently, but the spread of GMO technology will put big multinationals and big farmers at an advantage over smaller farmers. This is acceptable in regions with hunger and food insecurity (though I could think of drawbacks here too: how will small farmers make a living?), but not necessarily a positive development in the Western world where high-quality food is abundant anyway, as it contributes to the increasing gap between mankind and nature that modernity has caused, which has turned us into completely dependent serfs and urban zombies. I am happy that the EU is cautious in accepting GMOs.

Broadly speaking, it is.  But all controversies in science don't have the same gray area

DavidB. makes a good point.  The legal and economic impacts of GMOs are what's questionable.

GMO labeling should not exist because all it does is cater to the fears of crazy conspiracy theorists.

Unpopular opinion: Sometimes it's ok to see an AMA thread and not make one yourself, especially if you did less than 3 months ago.

Have you seen the Forum Community index? We already did a historically-large wave of AMAs back in May, and now for some reason it's happening again.

Still more active users not participating than participating.

That doesn't really make sense even using your own logic. First off, if you're going by current threads created, you have to wait a reasonable amount of time for the process to play out before you can draw conclusions. Second, having been on Atlas for over 2 years now, it's absolutely true to say that this forum has a thing for bandwagoning, which makes not jumping on the bandwagon unpopular. Third, as I said, we already did a huge wave of AMAs a few months ago, and the large number of users who participated represented a pretty sizable chunk of the active users. Combined with a handful of users who didn't do AMAs back then, I'd say my point is proven: It is unpopular here to not pile on an idea, at least among active users.

I don't even know why I'm arguing this out lol. My point was to blow off steam at how annoying this is, not to make a scientific assessment. But I will say this is totally the kind of argument that would come to mind if someone said "imagine arguing about something with Solid4096"

I can't stand generational warfare. This applies (obviously) to gurning morons with their heelarious gags about purple haired genderqueer crying because they didn't get a participation award in the tide pod eating competition (it takes some nerve for a fat old git staving off incontinence themself to make jokes about adults wearing diapers, all I'm saying); but more insidiously to "leftists" who blame everything from inequality to racism on the eeeevil cohort of baby boomers. I honestly don't understand this argument - it normally operates around a strange "ideal" baby boomer who took advantage of the last dregs of New Deal public programs, got everything handed to them on a plate, and then enriched themselves in the Reagan era by becoming a yuppie before retiring early in some awful suburb.

Not that this sort of person doesn't exist, but it strikes me as rank revisionism to imply every single baby boomer had this lovely life (especially considering  they'd have come of age in the austere and crisis-ridden 70s). Besides, it misdiagnoses the problem: if the issue of inequality was merely old people hoarding capital, the problem would actually solve itself as they die off and leave their wealth to their grandchildren. The people that are hoarding the capital are the wealthy, not the old - most old people live off pensions (and normally not great ones either). As a leftist, my empathy is naturally with the underprivileged old person living off a miserly stipend, not the members of my cohort that happily withdraw funds from their wealthy parents etc.
