I don't know if it was that.

But *something* was disastrous for the Democrats, in terms of their collapsing generic ballot lead.

And you really think that trend will remain the same for 10 months? That'd be a first.

Sometimes I think hes trolling, sometimes I think he really is this short sighted.

Could be both.  A troll can be shortsighted.

Rassy is trashy but it's in line with the rest of the pollsters. The shutdown is hurting Trump.

Rasmussen uses a 5-day rolling average, and last week was 46/52 on Monday, 45/54 on each of Tuesday-Friday (they don't do weekends).  The sample that rolled in today must be really awful for Trump.

Where have all the Gallup polls gone? Much more credible than Rassy.

So the uptick is wearing off, which makes me even more confused because I still have no idea what caused it or what killed it.

Be careful about rooting for the shutdown. It's not a good thing to shutdown the Government of America over the concerns of foreigners who are inconsequential to American life.

I don't know if you know this but... there was a Government shutdown. Maybe THAT'S why.

One of the ways that thousands of Americans have qualified as DREAMers is that they have successfully served in the military, so you might want to be cautious about how you pass judgment on people there, Mike.

Whatever happened to you is your business and your business alone, and you don't owe any of us an explanation. But it truly boggles us that you keep calling attention to with posts like this.

The uptick ended before the shutdown, though, and that doesnt explain what caused the uptick.

Who knows, though. If the current slide is because of the shutdown, we should see another uptick within a couple days because shutdowns fade from memory easily. If Trump's approval continues to slide or even holds steady, we know it's something else.

I just have reached the breaking point, Brit. How much more can the American people take? What is it that liberals want? Open borders? The United Nations determining American foreign policy? They claim to talk about freedoms but everything they root for involves big government stepping in.

I believe at least some of the uptick was a holiday bounce.  It's typical for Presidential approval to move upward around the Christmas holidays.
