Good numbers for Cooper almost a year into his term.

Love those NC numbers. Any of the 2020 "Sun Belt" prospects will be basically living there throughout their campaign.

That's for RV, and for all adults they have 39/53.  Interesting, and I think somewhat unusual, for Trump to have worse results among RV than all adults.  Marist's previous poll (last month) was 37/55 for all adults and 38/54 among RV.

Elon, North Carolina.

North Carolina: Elon University, Nov 6-9, 771 RV

Approve 37
Disapprove 57

R 81/10, I 35/56, D 8/92

Gov. Roy Cooper: 49/30
Sen. Richard Burr: 31/40
Sen. Thom Tillis: 28/41

Elon is usually Democrat-friendly in its polling, but even with that caveat, the polling nuimbers for President Trump are execrable for any Republican in a state that has gone Democratic in a Presidential election only once since 1976.

Governor Cooper is a Democrat, and Senators Burr and Tillis are Republicans.

Massachusetts, WBUR (NPR in Greater Boston)

Favorability 27-66. But I do not show favorability polls anymore on these maps . Probably close to approval, though.

http://d279m997dpfwgl.cloudfront.net/wp/2017/11/Topline-2017-11-WBUR-Issues-3-Wed-5am.pdf

This approval map shows  electoral votes to the states on the approval map.

Trump approval, net positive

55% or higher
50-54%
44-49%

Ties are in white.

Trump approval, net negative

44-49%
40-45%
39% or lower

But raw disapproval numbers appear instead  of electoral votes here:

Disapproval (net negative for Trump) :

55% or higher
50-54%
44-49%

Ties are in white.

(net positive for Trump)
46-49%
41-45%
40% or lower

And this is the kind of sh**t that gets me:

So exactly how do you "find out what's going on, on your own"? Do you grab a notepad and ride up to Washington, conducting interviews yourself? Do you begin to diligently research legislation as introduced by reading through each bill line-by-line and comparing it to the statements from both sides of the aisle?

No, your lazy ass sits in your computer chair, isolated in your echochamber of social media while googling the simplest terms possible to get the "news" that corresponds to your preconceived biases, applying the most ridiculous and conspiratorial levels of scrutiny to any perspective that doesn't make you feel warm and fuzzy inside while accepting literally anything at face value that does. In other words, being a sucker for "the media (that isn't)" that spoon-feeds you positive reinforcement.

These people truly are the scourge of the earth and will be the death of civilization if they're allowed to continue with their nonsense. Both society and the gene pool would be much better off without them.

So how do people think this (as if 'thinking'  describe what they do)?

Quote
You must be logged in to read this quote.

1. Opinions are not fact.
2. There's a big difference between FoX News and the more traditional media as news sources.
3. One cannot find out what goes on on one's own without relying upon others unless one is an insider.
4. Social media is not a news source; it is a rumor mill, no matter who one's friends are.

If one selects news based upon what one finds comfortable, one begins to accept whatever propaganda is directed people with similar feelings. To see something contrary would shatter one's feelings and self-esteem. Just imagine how many Germans felt in 1945 or Iraqis felt in 2003 as British and American flags started appearing in town. Practically every comforting lie that the previous leadership could quickly be shown wrong.

President Trump acts more like a dictator than any previous President. He has a personality cult already, and it has powerful enablers were around long before he became President. Such  people as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly are effectively among his prophets.  The arrogance and selfishness that he shows sounds like the ring if truth to multitudes.

It's tough to abandon delusions, whether one leaves behind clinical paranoia, habitual intoxication, or political brainwashing. I am afraid that for many Trump supporters it might take some calamity -- maybe that a precious loved one returns in a body bag from some war for profit  or that an economic horror as protracted as that of 1929-1932 occurs. You know how that goes -- people get uprooted from homes that they lose and end up in barracks-like housing that 'serves' a sweatshop owned by  the cronies of the leadership.

People get comfortable with their delusions, no matter what the cause. Breaking those delusions  is practically the breaking of one's identity and personality.  Reason is a great burden at times. But what else do most of us have?
