He gave a Shermanesque denial last year, but then this past spring, he seemed to walk that back to a more ambiguous answer:

Sam Spade (the former Atlas poster for those newbies who don't know him) was convinced that a sexual harassment rumor which I think was posted years ago on Daily Kos was true, and that that's why he didn't run for prez in 2008, though I haven't heard anything about that in years.

He barely won Virginia in 2014 lol. He wouldn't stand a chance.

The Dems need to nominate someone who can get people excited to vote. Someone young like Bill or Barack.

He also won by 33 in 2008. Assuming a lot from one race is stupid.

Alternative explanation: he won a race in a purple state during a wave year for the opposing party.

I'd trust Warner as president but I'm not convinced he'd be a very exciting candidate. He's getting a lot of positive press for the work on the Senate's Russia investigation, but that's a small audience. My only memory of him in front of a national audience was making a speech at the DNC in 2008 that was pretty poorly received (I remember John Stewart making jokes about how much it sucked on the Daily Show).

Warner is the kind of guy that Democrats could point to and say something like, "This man is the most qualified Democrat to be President of the United States!" in the way Republicans do about candidates like Bush and Romney.  Warner has public and private executive experience galore, and he's got two (2) terms in the Senate, so he knows what the legislative process is about.

He's got some problems, one of which is the residual ambitions of Tim Kaine.  But he's personally wealthy, and Virginia is a state that actually has a deep bench; there are viable replacements for Warner when his seat is u in 2020.  I can think of worse choices for the Democrats than Warner.

Safe but solid. Could work under the right circumstances.

He would have lost if the GOP took the race more seriously. I remember Ed being pissed about them abandoning him and rightfully so.
