This is absolutely the right time to talk about gun control

The Right is running scared - their own got slaughtered in their own hedonistic venue indulging in their incapacitating escapes with no chance for 'a good guy with a gun' to 'shoot back' on their behalf. This is a better opportunity to speak on gun control than perhaps anything ever before, but of course, our legislative disadvantage will be near impossible to overcome. Some foolish conservatives may fall victim to the 'concert was a gun-free zone' dribble, but any rational being should see this videos and feel very rightly threatened.

Wonderful to see the gun stocks rising as usual since they know the pattern...

Terrible. The weapon used was an Assault Rifle which was bought as a non-fully automatic weapon, but later modified to be so.

This absolutely is a time to bring up the debate about gun control.

The "accessories" that enable such modifications should clearly be banned, though. Fully auto rifles have been illegal for decades for a reason

Does the Mandalay Bay generally let people bring in 10+ rifles into a hotel room?

CBS reporting that police had to use an explosive device to breach Paddock's hotel room door but that he was dead at the time by suicide. Also sites are reporting that he used a cam system to see when the  police were outside his room to know when to commit.

CBS says he had no priors.

Paid shill Andrew Napolitano wasted no time weighing in.

Some media outlets now say Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack, claiming Paddock had recently converted to Islam and was their soldier.

Of course: if a Westerner drives into a tree, ISIS will claim it was one of their agents who planted it.

Don't forget the thoughts and prayers.

Prayers do nothing. Those that have been affected by this horrendous tragedy have my deepest sympathies. I care enough to actually want to act. Prayers, thoughts, and words are meaningless without action. So many are dying in vain. I want something done.

That's my point Wink

As a Christian, these folks are in my prayers, but I also will act on my thoughts. I don't know what I can do beyond donate blood, but this has gone on for too long.

The President refused to call it "domestic terrorism" and did not call for action. I'm sick of politicians trying to grand stand.

We don't know his motives yet, so it would not have been able to immediately call it terrorism. Las Vegas Police are not calling it terrorism at this time.

My brother works on the strip and was at work at the time.  There were rumors of gunmen all over and everyone was on lockdown.  Luckily that wasn't the case and he is alright.

His wife would have been much closer had she been at work but she is on maternity leave.

What ever happened to the increased mental health funding that Republicans supposedly supported before? Oh, that's considered "nanny state welfare", gotcha. Also the crusade against taking guns away from mentally unfit people due to Alzheimer's, etc shows that nothing will ever be done with the current Congress.

Trump's address was entirely appropriate, I thought.
