(1/2) Here you go. Every actual position fhtagn holds. With the exception of one comment (which is still very juicy!), basically any personal/real-life opinions ceased to be posted on the forum after DFW flipped her to the Feds.

There's content for everybody here - and I'm not censoring it based on whether it benefits one faction or another - but the notion that I'm lying about the Federalist nominee being a uber-left-wing Green Party supporter on the forum publicly as late as June is thoroughly disproved here.

Voted Jill Stein/Ajamu Baraka.
Gerry Connolly is running unopposed, so I wrote in Captain Planet.

Gay or lesbian relations = Acceptable
Having a baby outside of marriage = Acceptable
Sex between an unmarried man and woman = Acceptable
Divorce = Acceptable
Medical research using stem cells from human embryos = Acceptable
Polygamy = Acceptable (Though I really am only okay with this as long as all parties consent to it, not forced)
Cloning humans = Acceptable (as long as the human being cloned consents)
Doctor-assisted suicide = Acceptable
Suicide = Acceptable (I went with this because even though I know it's sh*tty, it's that person's life to take. They understood what was going to happen.)
Gambling = Acceptable
Abortion = Acceptable
Cloning animals = Acceptable
Buying and wearing clothing made of animal fur = Acceptable (only in cases of humanely sourced. Not animals skinned alive and factory bred)
Married men and women having an affair = Acceptable (sh*tty, but both are consenting parties)
The death penalty = Acceptable (only in cases where it is clear that the person did the crime and cannot be rehabilitated)
Medical testing on animals = Acceptable (we do not have the technology at this time to do without it)

Firstly, I wanted to take the time to introduce myself. My name is fhtagn, and I am currently running for the Southern Chamber of Delegates as a member of the Labor Party in North Carolina. I joined Atlasia in late 2016, under the suggestion of Blair, and have served one term previously as a Delegate for our great region.

I could go on all day about my beliefs on many issues, such as my belief in equal rights for ALL Southerners. My belief in clean energy and reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. My belief in doing what we can to give the middle and lower classes all the same advantages and opportunities available to the 1%. My belief that healthcare is a basic human right, and something that every Southerner deserves access to. But we would be here all day if I did that, and I feel that it could be best summed up as: I believe that everyone deserves a fair shot at a economically secure, healthy, and fulfilling life. And I believe deep down, this is something we can all agree on.

While I am human, and hold my personal beliefs very closely, I understand that change cannot happen overnight, and that it is hard for many to see so many changes so quickly. I can promise you, as your next member of the Southern Chamber of Delegates, I will be willing to listen and discuss the views and concerns regarding any controversial pieces of legislation that comes up, no matter which party you belong to, and will ultimately decide my vote based on what is best for our region, and will ultimately help our people.

In my time as a Delegate, I have taken the time to not base my votes only on my personal views, but based on what is best for our region. I will admit to have taken the time to agree with those who may not hold the same political ideals, and have been willing to compromise on legislation that will ultimately be best for our people. An example of this is my vote on the Privacy is a Good Thing Act, where I had originally been compelled to agree with (now) President dfwlibertylover in that police should not be banned from the use of drones (in his example, to try and find dangerous criminals particularly in active shooter situations or in major manhunts). When the act was amended to clarify that they may use them only when warrants are issued, I was willing to compromise and ended up voting to have this act passed.

With your vote for me in our upcoming Chamber of Delegates Election, you can be assured that your vote for me is a vote for the success of the South, because we are all on the same boat. We suffer the same consequences, and we enjoy the same benefits. When you take the time to look past party affiliation, you'll see that we all have the same end goals: a thriving region that we ALL can be proud of.

Welcome, and thank you for being here, Speaker Kenobi! I'm glad you could attend! I look forward to discussing the issues with you tonight!

As for Question 2:

I am delighted to see that this election many of the candidates seem to be interested in discussing infrastructure. This is something that I am truly excited about, as I feel that this is something all sides can agree on, and work together to make happen.

My plan for in the South is to increase funding to implement programs intended to improve and bring our infrastructure into the future. I plan to have these programs have some overlap with my clean energy ideas. This includes phasing into the use of power sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric. With implementing a whole new source of power in the South, we are not only creating many more jobs (especially for those who are currently working in dying industries), but we can be the leading example of where society should be, and set the pace for the rest of Atlasia. I would also like to propose ways to offer incentives to private companies who wish to help us achieve this goal and call the South their new home.

Much like Speaker Kenobi, I also feel that it is important to allow room in our budget for the maintenance of roads, bridges, and interstates throughout the south. Where I disagree with him is on the high speed light rail systems. While I do not feel we are at a position where it is economically feasible to put this in place throughout all of the South, I feel that we can work closely with local governments, especially those in urban areas and their suburbs to enact this. This would help ease our carbon footprint, as well as ease congestion on our roadways for those in high population areas.

Congrats!  Glad to see another dark green avatar get into the South Chamber.  Wink

Yes dear, I really don't see how this makes her "uber left wing" you can see the clear shift that has happened over time and you can even see that I was able to convince her on some things back in January, by the way she voted for Stein because she didn't like Hillary, Donald, or Johnson....so......

Prioritizing environmental issues does not make one a socialist.

     While she was clearly left-wing in the past, the examples here seem to point much more to a hardcore social libertarian and decently leftist in other respects than anything like what Griffin has alleged elsewhere.

     It's not like she changed between an-cap and communist overnight (something that I have, by the way, legitimately seen happen on the forum). This narrative that her ideological transformation was too quick or too drastic to be real is a strange one when you consider what has gone down in the history of Atlas. Argument from incredulity is a much stronger case to make when the proposition you are responding to actually is not credible.

Glad to see the Right unifying behind polygamy, incest and cousin fuckin' - I can't imagine any real conservative would ever in the history of the game oppose these things on principle! If me quoting things didn't automatically make them false, it might be different. Cry

I do oppose them genius. But I respect a libertarian who disagrees on how much the state should be intervening in people's lives. The Federalist Party has always strove to balance social conservative and libertarian interests and considering we have survived for a hell of a long time, I am confident that we have made most of the right choices in that regard.

     Putting this here where it's most relevant:

Well, if y'all get your way, you're basically about to elect another one - with an endorsement to boot!

     This is based on your supposition that President fhtagn does not properly instantiate the values of the party in office. Given that she has a track record as an officeholder since joining the party, you're welcome to try that.

     Protip: be sure to actually articulate the differences between her actions and the values enumerated in our platform. I know you'll just try to treat the Federalist Party as a sort of "right-wing analogue to Labor", which is not the correct route. The mere act of being a true conservative, though highly useful, is neither necessary nor sufficient to properly represent the Federalist Party as an officeholder.

Literally the only viable defense (in my own opinion, of course) that the Feds can mount for the nomination of fhtagn is "well she may be a raging left-winger, but she's willing to play something different on TV (maybe)!".

Which may work - who am I to say these days? - but I arguably find the most distressing part of this to be the fact that people like Yankee and PiT have completely abdicated their once-conservative principles and are just willing to chase whatever ideology or lack thereof in the pursuit of victory. I was never willing to cross the ideological hemispheres to elect a President who blatantly didn't agree with me on most core issues, but maybe I'm just old fashioned (and "irrelevant"!).

     Which I think is a big part of why I see nothing all that incredible about fhtagn's trajectory. Other than that I started on the right in economics and she started on the left, it's very similar to my own; we have proceeded by discarding previously inviolable dogmas and gradually opening up to conservative ideas on what constitutes good government. Neither one of us is exactly described by the word "conservative", but the line of influence is there (much more strongly in my case as it happens).

PiT, if you or anybody else had went from flaming leftist to Confederate apologizer in a matter of weeks after switching parties - all the while continuing to post very left-wing commentary on the forum - I'd be asking the same questions (unless you were like 14 years old or something).

Again, I - really more than anybody else! - understand the natural progression of people changing ideology. How many of your old voters found their way to Labor over the years? A lot! FFS, Hagrid just registered as Labor the other day!

I probably saw more defections from one hemisphere to the other that benefited me at the time than anybody else in the game ever. But they didn't abruptly switch from Fed to Lab (though plenty back in the day did switch from Lab to Fed out of spite - but at least they were honest about it) and then pretend to be conservative, and even if there was one or two who did, they didn't get the Labor Party's endorsement in the next election.

What's your goal in this, Adam? To convince Fthagn supporters that they should vote Truman since both will govern similarly? Even if that's true, it still makes sense to back the incumbent (Fthagn) - if switching incumbents will cause little to no change, then you may as well keep the current incumbent. No need for going through the process of transitioning the government if it will have no long term benefit.
