I mean, Biden folksy enough that he's going to be characterized as a populist anyway, just because of his rhetorical style and his background. So I suppose trying to triangulate away from that characterization is smart. Useless though, because he's Joe Biden.

Hmmm, listen to what common people are demanding, and DON'T give it to them...

My god it's so crazy it just might fail horrifically.

I'm of mixed feelings here. I like that he attacks Silicon Valley executives and UBI, because they suck. On the other hand, I don't like his overall anti-populist tone. Seems like the same type of tone Hillary used in the general.

This in some ways seems worse than Hillary's message.

I can see it now:

Alienating major Clinton donors and the Sanders base. This messaging sounds terribad for the Democratic primary.

Reason number two that Biden shouldn't run (reason number one being his age).

It's not a triangulation, he's always believed this and is just being more vocal about it now

As a working poor, I can assuredly sympathize with the idea that one may not have the time, energy, or resources amidst a myriad of obligations to attempt to do more than seek simple survival, but within a certain segment of that population--larger than we might think--there does exist that freedom, and I think to some extent we have seen how corporations market products more differently and respond to consumer demand that voluntary change at some level can occur.

I feel like I should point out that universal basic income is about as stupid and inefficient as the current welfare system, as well as more expensive.

Why would we give $20,000 to a homeless man and $20,000 to a millionaire?

UBI IS problematic and will be met with heavy resistance. Some of these foreign posters clearly don't understand America's electorate.

People are not going to be on board with giving people money simply for existing.

Why are people making a big deal out of his opposition to UBI? There is no credible proposal in Congress for it or any progressive groups, not even Sanders/Warren has a bill.

He's not inherently wrong about UBI, which has been pushed disproportionately by Silicon Valley solely because it benefits them.

This is what I like about Biden; he doesn't promise unrealistic things, but explains realistic solutions in a way that doesn't sound boring and/or condescending to the working class.

I'd vote for him in a primary, but I think he'd be too old to be a serious candidate.

I'm glad that the Democratic Party is finally tackling the biggest issue of Clinton's campaign, not being tone deaf enough.
