Bullock would be very strong in Iowa if he manages to gain some endorsements. Enough swing state and district members of Congress probably fear running with Warren or Kamala on the ticket he could rack up some endorsements early ish. That said, the debates are very important. The key is to show up and be prepared with plans to fix problems while the Kamala and Gillibrand talk about how racist/sexist Trump is and tell the country everything we've known for decades. He would be wise to pick a couple issues to go left on such as writing off student debt, raising taxes on the rich (along with net neutrality).

This could get him more young voters than the neoliberals who think lowering interest rates from 8% to 5.5% will fix things when the problem is much much more serious due to 15-20 years of many people paying interest only. Staying centrist on immigration (not falling for the abolish ICE garbage) could be popular with a lot of college and non-college whites and might just win more minority votes than some think. Painting Booker, Harris and McAuliffe as donor pawns is more than fair game.

Well, the field may be so large that Bullock is relegated to the kiddie table debates.  He needs to figure out some stunts that will get him some national media attention, and get to 2 or 3% in the polls, or whatever the cutoff will be.  OTOH, maybe if he's the only candidate in the race who holds statewide office in a Trump state (which is very possible, given who the other likely candidates are) that in itself will get him a few favorable headlines.

Gary Johnson cracks the door back open for... something: http://thejacknews.com/politics/gary-johnson-considering-run-public-office/

Seems like he's still not going to run for President, but he sees something else he wants to run for. I doubt he wants to try for Udall's Senate seat, considering that he has literally said before "I'd be terrible at the job" when asked if he would run for Senate. Maybe he's interested in the VP nomination from the LP this time?

Tim Ryan is telling people he's running, and believes yogi will be his base along with blue-collar Midwesterners. Also told Third Way “You’re not going to make me hate somebody just because they’re rich. I want to be rich!”

I want him to run, just to watch him get his ass handed to him.

The one probable 2020 Democratic candidate I could see myself voting for.

The democratic field in 2020 is going to be huge.
I can't see who i'm going to support as of now. I like some aspects of Biden and Sanders but both have there problems plus the new ones are untested and I have to see how they operate in 2020. I would really like to see some support for a public option over single payer but still if they support single payer Its not like I wouldn't support them in a GE.

Ryan's hired Pete D'Alessandro, Sanders' former state director who just got thumped in CD3, to run his Iowa campaign.

Ryan would never make it to the main debate stage, the kiddie table debates will be quite full it looks like.

In a further show of resistance to Trump, Gillibrand and Warren refused to sign on to the NDAA conference report.  It passed the conference on a bipartisan vote of 85-19 according to the signatures at the end: https://docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/20180723/CRPT-115hrpt863.pdf

But perhaps the weirdest bit is the idea that yoga is going to propel Ryan to the White House:

This is more likely for 2024 than 2020, but I'll post it here anyway:

Interesting. Scott, who's not really moderate but also doesn't seem like a flaming conservative, will likely find it hard to win a primary in the post-Trump Republican Party. He also has the problem of Nikki Haley's likely run, which might rob him of a SC victory if they both run.

Haley would likely beat him, but I could still see him becoming the de facto Tea Party-esque (or at least "real conservative") candidate if he gets far enough.

I'm still trying to figure out what the hell the "yoga vote" is supposed to refer to. Is it just a vaguely belittling term for middle-aged suburban white women? This week's 538 Slack chat was similarly baffled.
