I also decided to start to make a set of data, for interest's sake, beginning with Michael Z, of posters' word counts vs. the number of posts they've made.

Here's what the graph looks like so far:

Yes, yours was one of the outliers. Smiley

I don't think anyone's going to beat phknrocket's 17,000 unique words in less than 4,000 posts, though.  I don't know how he did it, but he's said a lot of words.

For the record, here's what the graph looks like now:

Since someone mentioned that it might be a natural log relationship, so I plotted this next graph:

I thought that this bore a striking resemblance to a parabola, so I plotted this third graph:

Make of that as you will.

(Note: It's actually ln(1 + x) and ln2(1 + x) that are being plotted, not ln(x) and ln2(x), since the former two are the ones that intersect the point (0, 0), but I was too lazy to write all of that out).

Do you know what a natural logarithm is?

If not, it would be kind of difficult to explain what's going on there.

Gabu, from that, can you determine who has the most diverse vocabulary?

Depends on what we determine to be "diverse".

If it's "sheer number of unique words", then Lewis Trondheim wins with 25,651.
If it's "largest unique-word-to-number-of-posts ratio", then Machiavelli wins with 6.67 (or Dean with 4.65 if you want to ignore Machiavelli).
