Opinion of the counter-protesters against the white nationalists at Charlottesville: are they freedom fighters standing up against hate, or are they horrible people just as violent as the other side?

I generally don't like "agitators" who go to a protest just to disrupt it, but when the other side is literally Nazis, I think it's a pretty clear exception. FFs.

As far as I'm aware, there are a variety of different groups there. Some are more favourable than others. I sympathise with showing opposition to Nazism and White Supremacism (although I think going out and protesting them is a waste of time because it just gives more attention and air time to a tiny minority of people) but I also oppose groups like Antifa who took part in the counter protests and although they weren't the aggressors this time, they are very aggressive.

     Antifa are HP and they should be held responsible for the damage they do, though they are certainly less culpable than the white supremacists here. The thugs on both the far-left and far-right can go sod off, ultimately. I will comment that peaceful counter-protestors are clear FFs.

Those that did violence are obvious HPs.  Those that stood by and watched violence and did nothing to stop it, still HPs, just less obvious.  Those that actively tried to stop people on their side from doing violence, obvious FF.
