In 2004, Democratic Senate leader Tom Daschle lost his seat very narrowly (I believe it was 50-49 in the end). What if he won re-election and stayed on Democratic leader in the Senate? How would this change the Obama presidency (assuming Obama is still elected in 2008, but you can butterfly that out of you want), particularly Obamacare? How would the 2006, 2008, and 2010 races go? Would he win re-election in 2010? If he did win re-election, would he stay on as Democratic leader? Discuss this and more.

He might have run for President in 2008, and he might have done well in Iowa, but I don't see him doing well anywhere else.

He probably stays on as Majority leader until 2010, when he loses re-election (probably in a rematch with Thune)

Honestly, if Thune loses twice, he would've been a spent political force. A different Republican would win the primary (and most likely the general.)

Matt Michels or Larry Pressler seems most likely.

Pressler is also spent. I would say Rounds does it, considering his term ended in 2010, instead of going for the open seat in 2014.
