Even if you abhor their political views, who are your crushes? For me, it'd be Sanders and Franken.

No crushes - and in terms of opposition there are statists in both parties who I don't care for - Graham, McCain, Pelosi, Schumer to name a few. I don't really care for them.

I guess quite a lot of Dutch PvdA politicians fall in this category for me. I would be scared to death if they somehow managed to lead a centre-left/left-wing majority (which hasn't happened since the 70s Smiley) but they usually are open to working with the right and we usually get decent compromises. Which explains the drop from 24% of the vote in 2012 to 6% in 2017. I guess ruining the main centre-left party in the Netherlands is another reason to like them Smiley (I don't think their current state will last forever, I actually think they will be back in 2021).

For me, it would probably be John Kasich and Charlie Baker.

Do you think they will surpass GL and D66?

I think so. D66 is bound to lose seats in a VVD-CDA-D66-CU coalition, and I don't think a green party will ever have the broad appeal of a social democratic party. I think people will forget the VVD-PvdA cabinet en masse and flock to the PvdA (who suddenly will be true leftists again) when the new centre-right cabinet tries to do something like labour market reform. GL only has 14 seats btw, I never really understood their euphoria after the result. Sure, it's their best result ever but only 9% of the vote still is a bit underwhelming for them (there is a reason why people mockingly call Jesse Klaver the Jessias/Jessiah).

I like Dennis Kucinich. I'd like him even more if he were still pro-life, though.

Current members of Congress on the Democrat side who I actually like and/or agree with on issues important to me:

- Chuck Schumer
- Bob Menendez
- Ben Cardin
- Joe Manchin

- Eliot Engel
- Ted Deutch
- Albio Sires
- Josh Gottheimer
- Brad Sherman
- David Scott
- Dan Lipiniski
- Kathleen Rice
- Grace Meng
- Brendan Boyle
- Lois Frankel

- Jim Hood

- Dov Hikind
- Simcha Felder
- David Greenfield

And recently out-of-office pols: Jason Kander is decent on my most important issues and Brad Ashford was decent as well (in both of these cases, though, I've strongly back their opponents in 2016)

The few Republicans I respect are for different reasons -

 - I get the sense that Amash is an ethical, hardworking, and transparent person, even if I disagree with his beliefs on just about everything.
 - I liked Jeff Flake when I was a libertarian and I still respect him as a legislator who has a set of honest principles he stands by, even when those things are wildly unpopular.
 - I used to respect McConnell's abilities as a floor operator, though I respect those abilities much less now. Still, McConnell is much more capable than any of the losers who are thinking they could take his spot (especially Cornyn).
 - Some of those GOP Governors border on okay (Brian Sandoval is genuinely a pretty decent Governor for Nevada, and some others have some okay stands)

I mean, worldwide I think Mauricio Macri is doing his best and the peronists are trash so I could be convinced to vote for Macri if it's between him and Kircher again.

That guy Robert Kennedy, Jr. in Alabama seems to be actually a good Democrat I wouldn't mind in the Senate.

A bit of a throwback, but Chuck Hagel.

Among current Republicans, Sandoval, Amash, Paul. I'm fond of Gov Rauner too. McCain is good on campaign finance.

Lisa Murkowski...even before her recent healthcare votes I admired her for fighting back the tea party in Alaska with her write-in campaign.

I mean, anyone who can win a write-in campaign must be pretty popular.

I'm a neocon Republican. Picking any Democrat, probably Joe Lieberman. But he's pretty much a neocon, even though he's got a (D) next to his name.

If you're actually talking about an actual liberal, then Joe Biden. I can respect him.
