Ok, that shouldn't be considered appropriate, you should not be able to just bribe your competitor like that

LA already has the facilities needed to host the Olympics, they just need more hotels and they will be set . LA unlike Athens/Rio likely will profit of the Olympics like they did in the past as well .

Summer and Winter Olympics aren't held the same year anymore so there is no need to say 2028 Summer Olympics.

Also you are correct ,Summer Olympics are the only Olympics that matter .

Its gotten pretty bad when there is basically no longer a competition to win the olympics. But I'll look forward to watching in 2028.

A lot of people love figure skating at the Winter Olympics in the US, GB, Japan, Canada, France, and elsewhere. It is the marquee sport for US TV with the peak engagement being the 80s and 90s from 84 with Katarina Witt, Scott Hamilton and Torvill & Dean to 88 with Debbie Thomas, 92 with Kristi Yamaguchi, and 94 with Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding. I'd hazard to say that figure skating is nearly as popular as the swimming and gymnastics and more popular on tv aside from maybe just the 10 seconds of the 100 m dash in track & field here in the US.

Snowboarding can make stars of the sport into mega stars like Sean White. Few don't remember Eric Heiden (if old enough) or Bonnie Blair or Dan Jansen or Ohno in speed skating. The hockey is big for NHL fans with the stars playing for their countries in a tournament where even if Canada has won often the games are very competitive with them and the other top 6 nations (Russia, USA, Finland, Sweden, Czech, and Slovakia).

Sochi was also a very expensive Olympics. By its nature the Winter Games does not rotate outside of cold weather countries so that limits it to an extent.

Hundreds of millions of dollars will be spent on facilities, even though LA already has some of them, Beach volleyball stadiums, temporary pools, Canoe courses, Cycling courses, etc. etc. It'll cost billions of dollars to do the olympics and frankly who cares?

LA is projected to have a surplus at the end of the Olympics. Heres the thing LA is not in a third world country, it is in the richest country in the world and due to that it will not only not bankrupt it but maybe even profit of it(like they did both times they hosted the Olympics before).

The only sports I care about are the 1500m, decathlon, 10m air pistol, and equestrian jumping, although the second of two times I've ever cried watching a sport was when Andy Murray won gold at Rio in 2012. (the first was when Murray lost the 2012 Wimbledon final)

This will be quite an adventure. If I'm still living here by then, hopefully I'll be able to see an event or two. Smiley

Great that the summer games will be returning to the U.S. after 36 years.

Unfortunately, I wish that the U.S. could showcase a city that has not yet had its time in the international spotlight:  Dallas, San Francisco, Minneapolis and DC would have been great Olympic host cities.
