Thank you McCain. I don't agree with you on much politically, but you have my deep respect, and are truly an embodiment of courage. Get well soon.

Thank you, John McCain, for proving me wrong on my previous claims that you had stopped being a moderate. While we have our disagreements, you do the right thing for the country when it counts. The message in my signature is completely sincere, and if you make it to 2022, I encourage you to run for re-election.

Do you guys think that McCain has been convinced because of his recent diagnosis ?
If he votes No, maybe the Spirit In The Sky does exist and had a plan.
Not trying to make fun of McCain or his condition. All seriousness, I feel awful for him and hopes he truly recovers.

I wrote this (above) about 30 minutes before the vote.
I'm convinced his recent diagnosis and the critical thoughts that go through one's mind with such a revelation, may have been the reason he voted No.

John McCain,

I thought calling Rand Paul something as disgusting as an agent of Putin was just about the stupidest thing any person could say on the Senate floor for his anti-interventionism, and that day, I lost a lot of respect for you.

That being said, I hope your vote recent vote means you will work to get a better deal repealing and replacing Obamacare that helps a lot of Americans.

And, of course, I hope you fight back brain cancer and show it that it's not easy to take down a war hero. Thank you for your service.

Well, it's well worth saying. I think that he acted with courage. And to be fair, it should be said. It's nice when people act with courage and moral values instead of bowing to the God-Emperor.

I'd like to believe this is the beginning of the resurrection of the pre-Trump Republican Party and even a hearkening back to a different GOP.

Dude, this healthcare fiasco was caused because GOP POLITICIANS couldn't muster a vote for a bill THEY crafted.

At what point does Pence become President now? Before or after TrumpTax fails?

Or do we just let Trump Carter himself in 2020?

Trump tax cuts  won't fail ,as mccain will vote yes on that and that means tax cuts will be in affect for the next 10 years

And yes, I'm proud. When McCain cast his yes MTP vote, I stood by him and called him a war hero. My faith in him is vindicated. He acted with courage, and the Gipper will receive him warmly in God's Heaven when the time comes.

When history is accounted for, when the books are read out in a century, we will remember the likes of John McCain and Ronald Reagan. Trump, even now, slouches towards the ash heap of history, an overweight slob who has little to add to the public discourse. Time will be glorious to the memory of St. John Sidney McCain, III, of immemorial fame.

Today, the world found out that the moral center belonged those of us who raised our banners against Trump. But we knew that all along.

Terrible post.

There is one small part of John McCain that I respect, I admit. The problem is doctors are trying to kill that part with radiation.

As an actual Reagan conservative with respect for the way we used to sell an agenda, used to do things, I must say I have no regrets for saying this.

Trump is no Reagan and this vote shows it, in spades.

Except, Mccain/Murkowski/Collins are cut more from the Bush Sr. cloth rather than the Reagan cloth.

All of the supposed staunch conservatives supported this bill.

So, if there is a return to republicanism, is that a suggestion that it be more in the make of liberal republicanism?

Apparently their plan B is just slashing the corporate tax rate to 15% and doubling the standard deduction so they'll probably atleast get something resembling a victory, even if comprehensive tax reform fails.

Anyway, I've always loved you John Cheesy, if only more Dutch politicians were like you... (I shouldn't complain as our current bunch is pretty decent by European standards, but still).

Well, I've never had a really bad opinion of John McCain overall. I did lose some respect for him after he put the Wasilla bimbo on the ticket with him, but this makes up for that. Thank you Senator McCain for choosing country over merely giving the Dear Leader "a win." History shall judge you well, good sir. You are an American patriot.
