Hurd might if his district get redistricted beyond competitiveness.

For the Dems, Cuellar might? McRaven would be the best recruit but I doubt he jumps.

I hope he appoints Hurd. Hurd has a lot of potential but he's probably going down in 2018 thanks to Trump. But Hurd probably is too moderate for the Texas GOP.

Hurd is too moderate for Texas statewide right now, but he has the potential to hold the seat for life considering what Texas statewide will likely be in 10 or so years.

Hurd would be a gazzilion times better than Cruz, and would be one of the best Republican senators that Texas has ever had.
