So lets say McConnell lost his 2008 senate race(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_election_in_Kentucky,_2008)

and Coleman beat Franken so the numbers stay the same as OTL.


So what things would change about the Senate:

1. Who would be the New GOP Senate Minority Leader
2. and How would the Senate be different with McConnell gone

I could only really see Mongiardo or Chandler beating McConnell. Maybe Fischer, but whatever the case, I think Lunsford did as best he could.

That said, I could see Kay Bailey Hutchison or Judd Gregg taking over. Both have enough experience, but aren't as old as Hatch and Shelby.
