If the Austrian men are not able to play proper football during EUROs, let's hope our women will get the job done and survive the group stage ... Wink

(Obviously, teams such as Germany and Sweden are favoured to win again.)

Damn, I just found out this is being held in the Netherlands. Well, I guess we atleast qualified for this one. Go girls, show that you're better than the boys (as usual). I actually don't follow football but I know that our men's team had a hilarious collapse after 2014.

Didn't knew this was happening nor that Portugal had a women's national football team. I'm impressed! Cheesy

Let's see how they score tomorrow against Spain.

Netherlands beats Norway in the opening game by 1-0.

Yay. Apparently the men's team last victory at an European championship was in 2008.

Still not as bad as our men ...

Their last victory in a World Championship was in 1990 in Italy.

And their last victory in an EURO was in 1960.

Our women are much better, they know how to fight.

Did not go well ...

Spain beats Portugal 2-0

But it's not as bad as England vs. Scotland which ended 6-0 ...

France beat Iceland 1-0

I wish the media (mainly the BBC) would stop trying to push women's sport as a thing.

Women's sport can be a thing if there is a way to bring money into it. It's a bit tougher for team sports than individual sports like tennis or golf where individual personalities or appearance can play a role. Gambling can help in this regard, as it gives people a reason to follow the sport, which brings money into the game. The Women's Big Bash League in Australia is a good example of this. People from around the world watch the matches on TV, even if the stadiums are mostly empty.

Group A is already done.

Netherlands (the hosts) and Denmark are advancing to the 1/4-finals.

Today, the final Group B matches take place. Germany and Sweden have the best chances to advance to the 1/4 finals.

Group C endgames taking place right now.

After 45 minutes, Austria leads Iceland by 2:0, while Switzerland leads a 10-women France by 1:0

Right now, Austria would win Group C with 7 points, followed by Switzerland with 6 points.

France and Iceland would be out.

I can't believe it ! Austria advancing to a quarter-final ... in a EURO ! Proud of our girls !

Group C now done.

Austria wins Group C with 7 points, followed by France with 5 points.

Switzerland and Iceland are out (France equalized against Switzerland in the 2nd half).

Austria and France will likely play against England, Spain or Portugal in the 1/4 finals (depends on the final Group D games tomorrow).

England and Spain win Group D. Portugal and Scotland are out.

The quarter finals:

Netherlands vs. Sweden
Germany vs. Denmark
Austria vs. Spain
France vs. England

If we beat Spain, then we'll face Germany or Denmark in the semi finals ...

Welcome to the Netherlands. I don't know what's more Dutch: rain or waiting hours before someone finally makes a f**ing decision Smiley.

Just noticed this thread exists. I love this tournament, been following it the whole time. So happy for the Dutch today. Their crowds have been great, and I'm expecting an amazing one at the FC Twente stadium next week!
