I thank the Speaker.

This bill represents the combined work of the Special Committee on Education. This committee, itself a collaboration between the Members of Parliament and private citizens of both parties, deliberated over a period of two months with the purpose of consolidating and reforming our region's educational standards - the first time, to my knowledge, that any region has ever attempted to do so. The result is this bill, which establishes a broad but comprehensive curriculum for all students of publicly-funded primary schools and makes significant reforms to the role of standardized testing in those schools.

The broad effects of this bill should be self-evident; I would be delighted to answer any questions from the Membership with regard to specific passages or features of this legislation. Last but not least, I offer my sincere gratitude to Simossad, Dr. Novella, Long Live Rock, R. Pryor, Ted Bessell, RFayette, and Barnes for their invaluable contributions to this process.

This bill seems to establish reasonable standards for education. I find nothing objectionable or controversial in the text of the bill, and it is clear and well-written. The Committee did an exemplary job and a great service to the people of Fremont by crafting this piece of legislation. I support this bill.

Bump.

I'd really like to hear from our other members (particularly those who were not part of the Special Committee), but should there be no further debate, I will move for a final vote tomorrow.

having helped draft part of it, I am a big fan of this proposal.  I think it has reasonable standards and should work quite well.

I support the bill, it is sensible and there is nothing in it that I object to.

With 3 votes in favor, 0 votes in opposition, and 1 member not voting, the question is resolved in the affirmative. This piece of legislation has been adopted.
