Sanders got annihilated in Maryland though. Clinton beat him by 30 points.

In a head to head race. 35% of the vote wins if your two opponents get 32.5 each.

Agreed, plus depending on who else runs I could imagine Ben doing better with the African American community than Bernie did.

Plus like... He's the former head of the NAACP, which engaged in political campaigns in Maryland under his tenure. I'm pretty sure he's acquainted with the political dynamics of the Maryland Democratic party. I'll assume he didn't get in saying "oh yeah my message is just gonna resonate and I'm going to win."

Being the former head of the NAACP didn't help Kweisi Mfume in his run for Senate, and Mfume was much more qualified than Jealous. Jealous and Baker could easily split the black vote in the primary, but if Raskin comes out swinging for Jealous, he could do well in the 8th.

Wasn't referring to it as a resume point so much as referring to the fact that he's operated in MD before and in a non Bernie context.

Where's Baker???

Anyway, damn good haul for Hogan, and who are Shea and Ross?  And how'd they get so much money?

If you click through to the article linked in the Daily Kos link, Baker raised approx 1m and has 696k in the bank.

I may endorse Hogan tbh; Jealous is a Berniecrat but I just don’t trust him to run the state and don’t know much about Baker. Regardless, MD, outside the rural parts, strikes me as pro-gun control, so not a good look for Hogan.

Well, i doubt, that Carroll county, for example (mostly suburban, IIRC, but 82% for Hogan in 2014 and 63% for Trump in 2016), is a hotbed for gun control initiatives too....

Carroll County is exurban if anything and in the grand scheme of things really doesn't matter as it was only 3.7% of the total vote in the '14 Gov race. Compared to 15.3% for Montogmery County, 15.2% for Baltimore County, and 12.7% for Prince George's County.

Democrats already tried this strategy in 2014. They won Montgomery, Prince George and Baltimore city (not county, i admit) in governor election. Was it enough?. And Baltimore county, while going for Clinton in 2016, is less reflexively liberal then these three...
In 2014... We have a Senate Race now, and Hogan is beginning to sicken.me.

Plus one imagines that turnout in MoCo is going to be MUCH higher this year. It's practically HQ of the #resistance.
