Wild and wonderful, West Virginia. Vermont is a great state too, and believe it or not these two states aren't all that different. A lot of the same appeal for a nature lover.

I have, and nobody thought Vermont was a redneck state. Most didn't think of Vermont at all. They thought Indiana and Missouri were redneck states.

I voted VT though I've never been there. I hear VT is beautiful. I've been through WV and it is beautiful too.

VT and WV have a lot in common, both being among the most rural states in the US. Both states are very Protestant (Unitarian and Congregational/UCC in VT; American Baptist / United Methodist / various revivalist sects in WV).

Having lived in Cambridge, MA for 4 years, with a master's degree (and working on a second one), and having traveled to NH and ME and liked it, I suspect VT would be a better fit for me.

Vermont. I'm sure West Virginia is a beautiful state with a lot of great people, but I doubt it'd be a good fit for me culturally. Maybe Morgantown might be good, but I doubt anywhere else.

I've never been to Vermont and regardless of politics I've had a number of great experiences in West Virginia. It truly is a gorgeous state and beautiful to drive through.
