Fremontians, I come to you today to announce that I will be running for the open Senate seat in the upcoming Fremont Senate election. I previously served as a Senator, and there are several pieces of unfinished business that I would like to finish if I return to Nyman. My main platform is based upon implementing the 5 points of the Labor Manifesto, which is the new platform of the Labor Party. Here is a quick overview of key points from the platform that I would like to implement if I am elected:

1. I support common sense gun control. I stand for a large increase in gun control regulations, including increased background checks, banning those on the no-fly list from purchasing guns once the no-fly list has been modified to better account for due process, and reinstating the assault weapons ban that previously existed from 1994 until 2004. I believe that more gun control is the most effective way to decrease gun violence and mass shootings.

2. The Labor Party supports breaking up the big banks of Atlasia. If a bank is too big to fail, then it is to big to exist. Banks that hold more than $100 billion in assets should be forced to downsize into smaller institutions, in order to eliminate the moral hazard that caused the Great Recession. Such a program was already successfully accomplished in Fremont due to a bill written by myself.

3. I support a large, fiscally responsible economic stimulus program involving increased government spending. The stimulus would occur through increased spending on infrastructure and social services. I pledge to you that, if elected Senator, I will not be satisfied with the economy until the unemployment rate is below 5% and economic indicators point to Atlasia being at full employment.

4. I believe that taxes on the rich should be increased and military spending should be cut. I believe that doing so would offset the deficit increases of point #3 while not offsetting the stimulatory effects. If elected Senator, I will work to reduce the bloated military budget, reduce income inequality, and make the rich pay their fair share in taxes. I also support tax cuts for the poor and middle classes, which will be evened out by the tax increases on the wealthy and military spending cuts previously mentioned.

5. I support a levelheaded, sound foreign policy that emphasizes international diplomacy and Atlasia's global commitments to the world. The preemptive strike by the Goldwater administration was a disastrous decision that led to a disastrous war. I believe that war should only be entered in to if two of these three conditions are met: there is a direct threat to Atlasia, an invasion of a sovereign nation occurs, or war is necessary in order to prevent a potential future genocide (if the genocide is currently occurring, then this is the only justification needed.) I will bring to the Senate an internationalist viewpoint for Atlasia that rejects isolationism.

The people of Fremont have spoken, and I have not been elected to serve in the Senate. I offer Senator-Elect Lumine my sincerest congratulations. He is a qualified, competent politician whom I hold a great deal of respect for, and I am sure that he will serve in his new role admirably.

I am running for the Fremont House of Commons in the upcoming election. Fremont needs an experienced, active legislator, and I have proved to be that both in the Fremont Parliament and in the Atlasian Senate. Like many other Fremontians, I was very disappointed with the extreme level of inactivity that was evident in the most recent Parliament. If elected,  I promise to vote and comment on every single bill that is placed before Parliament.

I will also bring a progressive, left-wing voice to Parliament. Fremont is currently represented by two Alliance members in the Atlasian Senate, but this is not a true indication of our region's politics as a whole. Fremont is a traditional left-wing bastion, and I hope to bring back progressive government to Fremont.

My policy positions are the same as when I ran for the Atlasian Senate most recently, and they are still based upon the (now-defunct) Labor Manifesto. I support an assault weapons ban for Fremont, as well as other common sense gun control measures. While in the Fremont House of Commons I broke up the big banks, and I promise that if elected to Parliament I will continue to support economically progressive measures.

In order to address the disproportionately high rate of gun violence and number of mass shootings in Atlasia, I have introduced a bill into the Fremont House of Commons that will ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in Fremont. Fremontians don't need machine guns and semi-automatic/automatic weapons for "self-defense" or hunting. More low-caliber weapons, such as hunting rifles, can be used instead. This bill will substantially improve gun safety in Fremont. While I believe that the "Let's Try This Act" is a huge step forward at the federal level, I believe that Fremont, as a traditional bastion of progressivism, can go even further by reinstating at the regional level the Assault Weapons Ban that was previously in force at the federal level from 1994 to 2004.

Thank you Fremont!

I would like to thank the people of Fremont for having the confidence in me to elect me to the Senate as a write-in candidate. I would also like to make clear that no one "convinced" me to enter this Senate race. I declared as a write-in candidate on my own accord and without the advice of any other Atlasian. In the Senate I will work to restore Atlasians' trust in their representatives, help working Atlasians, and help develop a clear and levelheaded foreign policy.

Many Atlasians are concerned over the use of Discord by their representatives. Since its adoption as a widely used discussion platform, it has been notable for the amount of scandals and corruption surrounding it. I am proud to say that I have never used Discord, for Atlasian or other purposes. I believe that if other politicians were to refrain from using Discord, then Atlasians would have more confidence and trust in their representatives.

I believe that working Atlasians who are left behind by free trade deals should not be forgotten. That is why when in the Senate, I will work to implement a Trade Adjustment Assistance Program. This will ensure that those Atlasians who do not seek to benefit from free trade will receive help in finding reemployment from the federal government.

In the Senate, I will work to help develop a clear and levelheaded foreign policy. Atlasia must not stand by while famines, genocides, and humanitarian crises occur in such regions of the world as Darfur, South Sudan, and Yemen. I will work to make sure that these regions receive aid and foreign assistance from the Atlasian government.

Pericles illegally cast a vote for you. This isn't over. Also, the only reason that someone would declare a write-in campaign during an election is if they were pressured to do so. Otherwise, why didn't you declare before the election?

1) You can of course feel free to take any action you so desire for clarification and legal precedent, but the Fremont Constitution clearly stipulates who is the winner in the election. Even if Pericles' vote is ignored, final round ties are broken in favor of the candidate with the greatest number of first preferences per Section 7. HenryWallace got 11 [1]s and you got 10 [1]s, so he wins regardless.

2) You also posted twice in the voting booth thread before the booth closed and then deleted your post shortly thereafter (presumably because somebody sneaky told you to delete it). Under any situation in which Pericles' vote would be invalidated, so would yours.

Well first there is nothing that says that you can't post twice in the voting booth. It does say that you can only vote once and Pericles clearly cast two ballots. Multiple eyewitnesses can attest to this. I did not, because my post was not a ballot

I would also argue that write-in candidacies aren't even allowed under the circumstances of this election.
Section 5 of the Fremont Constitution clearly states Candidates for first minister, Parliament, and federal Senate must declare their candidacy in the appropriate thread by 12:00:00 AM, Eastern Standard Time, on the Wednesday preceding the election in order to appear on the ballot.

To me, this means that in order for a name to count on a ballot you have to declare candidacy on that Wednesday before the election. Now you can feel free to write in a name, but that doesn't mean that it legally counts. In real life you can write in any name on a ballot, but it doesn't count unless you are certified for the ballot. I believe the same holds true in this situation. For Wallace votes to count he would have had to declare Wednesday before the election as Section 5 clearly reads.

Well at least you acknowledge defacing the voting booth.

And the rest of that is a total stretch if not downright misinterpretation.

I would like to congratulate my election opponent Sestak on his victory. He ran a well-run campaign, and I find it fitting that both of us were elected to the Senate through write-ins. Unfortunately, I didn't get around to implementing a Trade Adjustment Assistance Program, which I would have done if reelected.

I oppose the attempts by the First Minister to reduce the Carbon Tax. I will join with demonstrators in protesting against what would amount to an environmentally disastrous tax cut.
