Does Caroline Kennedy have a chance in the primary against Kirsten Gillibrand?

What would she run on? Why would Gillibrand be controversial to the Democratic base?

Gillibrand might literally be the most popular politician in New York.

1) Caroline Kennedy is not going to challenge Kirsten Gillibrand.

2) If she did, she'd be DOA.

3) This thread is completely useless.

Gillibrand has done nothing to upset her constituency and has been one of if not the most anti-Trump of the Dem Senators. Challenging her in the primary would be a suicide mission even for a prominent big-name Dem like Kennedy.

Six weeks before the 2018 primary election, Ambassador Caroline Kennedy will make it known in elite circles that she's "expressing interest" in the Senate seat, explaining to her friends she wants the seat because, "You know, why not? You know, I have to work twice as hard as anyone else." A week later, she will sit down for an interview with the New York Daily News. When asked her stance on Trump's budget, she will say, "I think that, um, the budget, you know, was expiring and needed to be repealed." Asked about the 2016 election, she will say, "Hillary lost because she was entitled to the seat, you know, it was a sense of entitlement." Asked when she would start her campaign, she will answer, "Campaign? What campaign? I've already expressed interest."

The same individuals who said Trump would 'never' be President. I've heard that before.

I see what you're saying, but using that argument is intellectually lazy. Just because Trump barely got elected doesn't mean we're transitioning into some sort of "Bizarro-universe," where up is down, left is right, and Gillibrand is vulnerable.

Let me build on this to ask you a question, Spark -- why do you think she does have a shot? Tongue

Caroline Kennedy wouldn't win the primary even if Gillibrand retired.  She's a non-entity in NY politics.

Caroline Kennedy wouldn't stand a chance even if Gillibrand gets caught napping.
