Haven't seen a thread for this one yet. Gomez has the support of the Dem establishment, including Xavier Becerra who held this seat before becoming CA's Attorney General earlier this year.

A large number of Dems (about 20) got a combined total of 90%, with both of the top-two spots going to Democrats under CA's top-two primary system.

Probably going to be an easy Gómez win.

I really don't see why Becerra was appointed to California AG though. He was almost certainly going to rise to the leadership of the House Democratic Party had it not happened.

In conjunction with his congressional experience in particular, it's a very good launch point for a future gubernatorial or senatorial career. Even as a more influential House member, he's just one of around 40 Democrats in the state with similar gravitas. Now he gets to cultivate a statewide persona, a more developed fundraising network, and so forth.

Maybe Pelosi - since she apparently intends on staying on as Dem leader until she's 113 - also wanted to flush out any potential future challenges and influenced Brown to do so. Both Hoyer and Clyburn are the same age as Pelosi - he would have been next in line, right?

Do we think that's early vote, or is it one precinct?

Those results are from the county's website and they are mail votes, because zero precincts are shown to be reporting. https://www.lavote.net/election-results#year=2017&election=3744
