Uh Victory!

Anyone saying this is robbed doesn’t under politics. Simonds was only up 1 day while yancey has been tied or up the whole election.

Says the person who regularly complains about supposedly stolen elections.

Why are people engaging with obvious trolls?

Anyway this isn't over, and even if Yancey pulls it off, Republicans are clearly on borrowed time in Virginia and 2019 will come soon enough, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

That’s robbing a candidate of an election not the Republican is up by 10 votes the whole time then the democrat is ahead by 1 vote now it’s tied that’s not rigged.

Washington was 10000000000% RIGGED the democrats kept doing recounts till they won.

I guess you need to take your victories where you can. After all, 2018 is going to be absolutely brutal for you. Also, there will more than likely be another recount. Proclaiming victory now might be short sighted.

How did you predict 2016, pal?
how did you predict Virginia and Alabama, pal?

Yep. Ken Cuccinelli vastly over performed the polls. No wonder they are sweating.

Gillespie is closing hard and should finish off Northam with ads about the Redskins.

Monmouth is an A+ pollster on 538. Great momentum for Ed.

How much time a candidate is ahead for is completely irrelevant, and you shouldn’t be hectoring other posters about “not understanding elections” if you think it matters.

The best part is that Simmonds will probably win in 2019.

While everyone was going bonkers over the wave that crashed into the eastern seaboard, krazen secluded himself in the special/local elections thread rooting for a Republican state Supreme Court candidate in Pennsylvania who ended up winning a statewide race by around ~4% (iirc), keeping the court's balance 5 - 2 (D).

Krazen loves to play cheerleader for Republicans and he'll be the first guy there to rub it in if they win, but he's a ghost when they lose. I think he's basically the political version of those overly-aggressive and obsessive sports fans who would rather their team cheat than be branded losers.

The funny thing is, Simonds asked Yancey to make a deal where they respect the results of today's drawing, regardless of who won, and Yancey refused. Now a second recount is inevitable, Yancey is probably kicking himself right now for not making the deal.

I predicted Alabama spot on. You should consult my expertise going forward not these GOP clowns(the two words really mean the same thing though at this point).

Let us not forget that turnout in PA for that court seat was in the low 20s.

I mean it was a 50/50 andYancey won, Dems will take over the state in 2019 either way so who really cares.

Don't get why people are so upset / thrilled by this. The race was tied, they broke the tie by lot, the election is over. Dems gained massively and showed that they own Virginia now, and any fleeting R majorities there will be short-lived.

Also the fact that Republicans still had the state Senate anyway, so even if they won this it was still going to be divided government for 2 years.

That about sums up my thoughts on it. We're only talking about 50-50 in the chamber with the other controlled by the GOP. I'd love to boot out as many incumbent Republicans as possible right now, but Democrats are still, imo, favorites to flip the legislature in 2019, so it's just a waiting game for now.

Yea, there is basically zero difference between controlling 1/3 v 2/3 branches of government. Nasty gridlock is the only result if you don't have full control of all 3 branches of government.

Holy cow. More victory.

Judge says....No stealing the election!

Link

Judge T.S. Ellis III of U.S. District Court in Alexandria declined to issue a preliminary injunction to stop Republican Bob Thomas from being sworn in as a delegate next Wednesday, saying the plaintiffs had not shown they were likely to prevail.

“I think the officials in these precincts made a reasonable decision to rely on the data they had,” Ellis said.

While he acknowledged that the mistake was “a big deal” to the affected voters, “there are other big deals,” including “federal courts sticking their noses into state election procedure.”
