The draw a name out of a bowl thing will only be a formality,  neither candidate will accept the outcome.

Soros needs to find that bowl pronto

I mean, the Soros conspiracies are hardly any dumber than all the Dem hacks here whining about rigged coin tosses and "theft" of a race that is essentially a statistical (if not exact) tie, lol. The mirror images of Greedo whining about Washington and Minnesota.
Washington and Minnesota are both super fishy there should have 1 more recount in both races.

Those were trial runs for Soros. We were still perfecting out vote stealing techniques. It was trial and error and we've gotten  way better over time (no more slip ups like writing in lizard man....a creature kept under wraps by the Illuminati of which Soros is a member of)

Livestream of the drawing of lots (named-filled black film canisters in a bowl) can be found here at 11 AM tomorrow.

I'm told all three State Board of Elections members - two Democrats and one Republican - agreed that the random drawing in HD94 should be delayed

Democrats would be weak to let that overvote count. If a student did that in a test answer at ANY level, it would be marked off.

I guess this kind of stuff is to be expected when judges are picked by the legislature. This part did bother me, although I concede I might be missing some of the particulars:

Why was it ok to count Yancey's ballot but not the one Simonds' team had a problem with?

Either way, the deadline was passed. For that reason alone I think the ballot should be thrown out, spoiled or not. I mean, is there any ambiguity to the law that would state the judges could count it? Why is it when it comes to election law + results/deadlines/etc, judges sometimes straight up ignore the law in favor of being "fair"? I don't keep track of every time I see this happening, but I believe it even occurred with that lawsuit to remove Farenthold from the ballot in Texas - the law stated there was a deadline, but a federal judge allowed him to be removed anyway. So what is the point of the law?

How weak of the dems they have had a week and they do it a day before the winner is picked come on really. Also if the loser of chance is upset they can get a recount.

how weak of Republicans not backing down in a tied race even when Democrats were preferred by the electorate by double digits

I did the exact same thing for the exact same office in my home outside Pittsburgh. I won 1 to nothing.

I didn't get an article in the newspaper though. Sad

Still not as close a percentage for the margin as Florida 2000 right before they ended the recount, which was 154 out of 6 million.

A name drawing, really, what hogwash. Now if it was up to me, I would want state law to demand a runoff since neither candidate got 50%. Fair and square, done.

Absent a court decision, a name will be drawn to determine the winner on Jan 4.

I'd also like that idea, but there were only 2 candidates in this race. Either of them would get 50% no matter what.

Unless you count spoilt/blank ballots as well, in which case I agree.

I think he meant 50%+1.

Something similar happened in the November election for a City Council seat in Cumming, Georgia (not far from me).  It ended in a tie, but city law had no provision for breaking a tie.  Since there was a runoff election in December for some other races, the city held a runoff for the tied council race, and this was won by a decisive margin.  I've wondered what would have happened if the runoff had also been a tie.

Wrong, there was a libertarian with over 2.5 percent of the vote. Yancey and Simonds are each stuck in the mid 48s.

Oh, didn't know that. Then sure, this should go to a runoff.

At 50-49 the GOP can elect the Speaker of the Virginia House for the session. Victory to the GOP!

Unfortunately, krazen is correct. Immediately after the drawing, a recount will be requested, which will not finish in time for the choosing of the speaker. Because it's 50-49, Republicans hold the power.

A tie is still important as the two parties would have to split chairmanships of the committees.
