If the Virginia and DC suburbs continue to trend Democrat, Virginia becomes Washington state in terms of voting Democrat by 2022.

VA wont become more Democratic than OR .

If it goes 50-50, then the two parties will elect co-speakers and form a power sharing agreement. One bitter VA Republican on Facebook complained that because Gillespie won so many more counties than Northam that the election must be rigged and that the state should adopt an electoral college for the governor election so a Democrat can never win again lol.

Was he from Liberty University? Everything that I have seen from those guys suggests that they are incredibly Salty Individuals.

And yes, in the event of 50-50, some sort of agreement will be reached. However, expect something to happen due to here simply being so many incentives for either party to take control. Expect judicial appointments, rumors of party flips, and potential resignations to be hinted at as the parties try to logroll their way to 51.

On the main topic at hand, The speaker designate for team R has currently Claimed Victory at 51-49. This is due to all four Republicans currently being ahead in the vote in the seats that will go to recount. This move however reeks of spin and nobody, even republicans, appear to be buying it. everyone knows that recounts are on the table for the four close seats of 27, 28, 40, and 94.

A vote correction in HD 28 saw the Dem gain a net of two votes. Margin now 84.

Update: D picks up another vote in 28, R picks up one vote on recanvas in 94.

When are they going to count those provisional ballots?

When the provisional ballots are validated by the voter. If there were some way to get in contact with every person who cast a provisional ballot, I'm sure Democrats would be working their asses off to make sure they show their voter ID and whatnot.

Read somewhere that counting all provisionals can take until December, so... get to waiting.

Dems seems.confident about district 94 though.

An important note about recalls from our buddy Ben Tribbett:

The Democrat in District 27 has conceded. Perhaps there could be a recount against his will, but I doubt it. This was always going to be the hardest seat to flip in a recount.

This leaves us now with Close HD 28, practically tied HD 94, and the recanvased HD 40.

Big if true, throws the race wide open depending on which precincts used Ballpoint. This means the machines may have missed a good chunk of votes, and easily could swing it one way or another.

Also, I think we have confirmation on how many provisionals are in the 94th. Earlier, we knew there were 50 in Newport News, which has 2.5 HDs in it. There appears to be 19 ballots in the district, though this may be ballots outstanding and the other provisionals have now been accounted for.

The results of provisionals will be released on Monday.

There are approx. 1000 military ballots outstanding in the county that entirely contains HD-28, apparently because someone forgot to check the PO box on election day.  Highly likely the GOP margin there increases after they are counted.  I do think HD-94  flips in the recount, but it's basically going to be 50/50 or 51R/49D now unless there's another large error in the Fairfax district that flipped in the recanvass.

...the fact that it literally takes months of a convoluted procedure to figure out who won a race when in almost every other developed democracy you know it for sure in at most a week (and usually within a few hours of polls closing)?

That's right, nothing to see here! American democracy is already great!

Implying that a trade-off is needed in the first place.
