A few months ago I asked a question about what members of the U.S. Senate are nationally recognized. Now I want to know the same about the House of Representatives. Is it just Ryan and Pelosi? Or are there other names too?

Any that eventually end up in handcuffs will then become better known.

RWNJ Steve King I'd say is pretty well known nationally after his recent white nationalist comments.

Liz Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney.

Ryan and Pelosi are the only ones known by actual people, despite Atlas delusions that the average person cares. John Lewis might also be in this category, but I highly doubt it. The average person cannot even name their own Representative, let alone some backbencher in a different time zone.

Those who follow politics a bit or watch the Sunday shows might know the likes of Adam Schiff, Darrell Issa, Jason Chaffetz, Elijah Cummings, or Trey Gowdy.

Absolutely. The average person simply doesn't care about congressional proceedings unless something bananas happens. And even in that case, the only names they're likely to hear are the house leaders.

These two are only known among Democrats.

I'd add Louie Gohmert and Joaquin Castro.

Only Pelosi and Ryan, and I'm not too sure about Pelosi being well-known anymore.

Now that Charlie Rangel is retired it's kinda weird NYC doesn't have any Congressmen of any real importance besides Chuck Schumer.

The standard for "nationally known" shouldn't be the average man on the street. It should be "would a person who reads the NYT front page regularly know who this is"

What are you talking about? None of the people in the post you quoted are "nationally known" by any stretch of the imagination, but Ellison and Gabbard are far more relevant in political circles than Castro and (especially) Gohmert.

Also, why the hell did someone throw Garret Graves' name into this discussion? He's a completely unremarkable backbencher - hell, I didn't even know who he was until I looked him up just now.
The topic is "nationally known," not "relevant in political circles." I think Gohmert is much more famous than Gabbard and Ellison due to him being generally always being profoundly, publicly wrong on some issue, and Castro's prominent twin elevates his own profile above that of Ellison or Gabbard.

And you really can't argue that Pelosi, Ryan and Lewis aren't nationally known. The rest you can make a case for, but kids learn about John Lewis in schools for god's sake. Chaffetz is prominent as an anti-Hillary crusader and Schiff has been all over the talk shows because he's good for a Trump-Russia interview.

Sonny Bono was probably the most widely known member of Congress when he was serving.

Surprised Devin Nunez hasn't been mentioned yet, given how recent his 15 minutes were.

And no one has mentioned Jim Jordan yet either.
