Bagel, it'll be okay. Morrissey from the Smiths has a better chance of winning this race than Patrick Morrisey.

West Virginia voters do not differentiate between federal and state elections, neither of which are very partisan in the state.

If that was so, Tennant would have done much better in 2014, but she did not. She should have hit at least Obama 2008 levels if that was the case.

WV swung hard against the Democrats during 2008-2012.

Oh, mother
I can feel

Oh well. Enough said...

From the master of WV politics Hoppy Kercheval

http://wvmetronews.com/2018/08/30/florida-results-show-potential-for-a-trump-bump-for-morrisey-in-wv/

Trump is not just wasting his time for Morrisey like that, he does not like wasting time. My guess is that GOP internals have Manchin ahead by 5-6, but once they poll around with a hypothetical Trump effect and questions and situations regarding that, then Morrisey takes the narrow lead. So Trump is making an investment with a lot of time and many many visits to the state, he is not just wasting his time, he knows what he is doing and is doing this after much internal polling data and research probably shows that there is a great chance that he will bring the race home for the gop.

No surprise there. Likely D race is Likely D. That money is better spent elsewhere.

My friend Rob today said that Manchin is f*****. That’s probably why they cancelled the ads.

Either internals are very good or very bad. I'm gonna go with very good.

I'm gonna go with bad since it fits my narrative better.

Well, you gotta hand it to Bagel, at least he's honest about caring more about his "narrative" than actual evidence. That's more than most people will admit.

Man, reading this really brought down my mood. Who knew Manchin acts like he’s depressed?

Many people outside this dem overconfidence place have more realistic expectations, like this is the first response I got when I shared this on nationstates:

That's an excellent piece. Yeah, that end is super depressing. God I feel bad for Manchin/The USA (even though my politics pretty much diametrically oppose his). Reminds me of Clare Malone's fantastic 538 profile of Doug Jones (but kinda opposite) (https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/doug-jones-thinks-hes-supposed-to-be-here).

Anyway, just to keep this thread somewhat on track - Blankenship is still at large and he's still hilarious. No ballot access luckily.

Wonder why, did you even say it was an internal poll?

No, but as soon as you click on the article it says so on the title.

Oh no... Bagel23's thought process here is like a Scientist who's trying to prove a meteor will hit the Earth suddenly feeling a wave of validation for his quest when a homeless guy screams about the apocalypse on the subway.
