This is basically OTL but Agnew doesn't come under fire for tax evasion and thus does not resign. Nixon resigns and he assumes the presidency. How does he do in the general election compared to Ford. Discuss using maps.

Does Agnew pardon Nixon in this scenario as well?

Agnew could either have combined policy moderation and hard-line rhetoric to create an invincible coalition, or (more likely) would have completely collapsed between the pressure from liberal and right-wing factions of his party.

I would think he would have, but since you brought it up and it was such a defining moment for Ford's presidency in OTL, let's say he didn't.

And you just found a way to possibly flip California and keep John Tunney in his Senate seat.

Since Agnew is less electable than Ford in 1976, he loses by a larger margin.

Former Governor James E. Carter (D-GA)/Senator Walter Mondale (D-MN): 372 EV. (51.76%)
President Spiro T. Agnew (R-MD)/Vice President Gerald R. Ford (R-MI): 166 EV. (46.51%)
