Keep in mind, he also turned 30 by the time he was to swear in in January. Schock turned 30 in May 2011, which would mean he'd leave the seat vacant for nearly five months were he to win. Granted, he didn't, but still.

Probably why Schock didn't end up winning even as Jackson was embroiled in scandal.
