Yikes.

If Anthem quits, consumers in parts of Colorado, Kentucky, Missouri and Ohio would be at risk of having no Obamacare insurers for next year, according to an analysis from Axios,

I think Trump is counting on it to be in such bad shape by next year that there is more support for a repeal.

Anthem wants their merger with Cigna approved.  They were the only major entity who spoke in favour of AHCA to curry favour with the Trump administration.

Only doing this because they can't merge with Cigna, and rather see people die in the process.

They're expected to make a profit this year. They also want to influence any new medical reform legislation in the works. Its not hard to figure out.

The company is going to make a profit, but they are projecting single digit losses again for their ACA plans, and least thats what they are telling their shareholders.

I'm going by this Forbes article from February.

I think at worst, Anthem will raise its premiums again. I dont see them leaving the market place and loosing 800,000 policy holders.

They can only raise rates so much. If they're still bleeding money on those 800,000 that you state, they'll leave, guaranteed.

I have an idea... why not cut out the middleman and establish a single payer system, run at public cost for public benefit?

Either that, or the only people who will afford it, won't need it. I see a lot of insurance companies becoming banks if Obamacare fails and isn't meaninfully replaced.
