Bold prediction (not really): Freedom caucus members will dig in their heels in response, and be even less willing to make compromises now.

Trump is trying to assert himself as the leader of the Republican Party and ergo this effort is designed to try to force the Freedom Caucus into line. He's hoping the 80%+ among Republicans cow them into line.

He doesn't have a majority without them. September's debt ceiling clusterf**k may actually result in a partial default.

"Please, sir, don't massively elevate us as the scourge of the mainline Republican Party." Does anyone hear the Freedom Caucus saying this?

I would love to understand how trump's thinking works. Right after the vote failed he was saying the Freedom Caucus was great and didn't blame them for the bill failing. Now all of the sudden he basically says they are the enemy? What changed? What is going on in that tiny little brain of his?

Tom Massie once again came in with a saucy response to The Donbot.

Sounds like this is going to be another 4 years of nothing much done in congress.

Trump often has the habit of trying to act presidential at first, but then he has some sort of mood swing and he's saying to himself "screw it!"

Successful at doing bad things, I'd wager. Give me policy stagnation over that any day.

Great news!

Hopefully Trump and the Freedom Caucus fight it out. Their only good member is Justin Amash.

Fascist and pathetic idiot Trump's reputed deal making skills are being exposed as nothing but a rich bully at an increasingly rapid rate. I hope it continues.

They'll be well positioned to pick up the pieces after the dumpster explosion burns out.
