Who would the Lib Dems nominate for President in the US?

If the Lib Dems were a political party of equal influence and size in the US, I suspect they'd have a good number of current Democrats and probably a couple Republicans among their ranks. If they were to nominate someone for president who is currently an elected official in the US (so, not some dude who claims to have founded the "American Liberal Democratic Party" from his basement, or something like that) who would they pick?

Ron Wyden - strong on civil liberties, to the right of the Democratic caucus on economic issues, seems to be not very hawkish.  Much like the Clegg-era lib dems.

There are some other good Democratic examples.  I would name some moderate Republicans but there really aren't any.

Large swathes of the Democratic Party would fit the mould. The USA doesn't have the same labour history the UK does, so tons of American pols would fit in reasonably well with the Lib Dems.
