HP, who also managed to spread modern ideas across the continent.

Sadly, he didn't know when to stop.

FF, certainly. Should have focused more on governing (which he was brilliant at) than warfare, but I can see why he made the mistakes he did.

Narcissistic warmongerer whose pride ultimately lost him everything his talent had ever gained, but definitely far better than his enemies, and left some good legacies to France and other countries. Voted lean HP.

Simultaneously overrated and overhated.

Also, helped standardize vital records like birth, death, and marriage (if only to further his calculations), which helps my job as a paid genealogist immensely.

Napoleon was oddly backwards-looking. He was good with 18th century set battles, but not with insurgency or urban combate. He strove so very hard to make his worthless family a hereditary aristocracy, even marrying a Hapsburg princess in the process (gross), when he should have had the all the aristocrats and landlords shot on capture. History should have remembered Napoleon as the one who burned Moscow ... and Vienna .. and Berlin .. and Madrid .. to the ground, not the one stupefied at the loss of his captured capitol. That he never instituted a secret state police with the power to liquidate in France and the occupied territories was damned silly of him.

His Egyptian campaign and the effort to re-enslave Haiti were hilarious.
