And if skinny repeal just sabatoges the insurance market, will the Democrats just "repeal the repeal" in reconciliation?

Not that I expected him to vote no, but still really disappointed. His political career is obviously over, and in light of recent events it's sad to see him taking the insurance of so many people.

If only McGinty or Feingold had won.

Hard to overcome the rot at the top of the ballot.

Both Toomey and Johnson outperformed Trump in their states.

Yes, incumbent Senators typically do outperform the Presidential nominee, such as Bob Casey in PA in the 2012 election. McGinty and Feingold were doomed the minute the nasty woman crashed and burned in PA and WI, respectively. Along with many others.

f**k John McCain.

Speaking of the "broken institutions of today" while he returned from getting top tier government healthcare to vote to begin the process to strip it from millions of Americans. He complains about how partisan things have become while his party (with HIS vote) forced a bill that no one knows the contents of through to debate with no bipartisan support. I hope he enjoys his podium of worthless platitudes while it lasts.

I guess McCain figures he's dying so why not take 20 other million Americans out with him.

So what is most likely to happen now? Repeal and no replace? Skinny repeal? Nothing and they move on to tax reform?

If only Hillary took voters in either of their states seriously.

Yeah, if Hillary had only campaigned in Pennsylvania?!

They are now voting on the BCRA as an amendment, though it needs 60 votes to pass due to parliamentary rulings, so the vote will fail.

Edit: Vote on motion to waive budget act for BCRA

Looks like it won't even hit 50.

Actually the CSPAN header was a little confusing, I think this was actually a vote to waive the budget act requiring 60 votes on the BCRA. That vote also needed 60 votes, so it fails as well.

Lol, McCain voted aye. What a joke.

Not trying to be a dick or make light of his illness ... but maybe the cancer has damaged his brain? I mean, there's no reason in the world for someone to so publicly flip-flop like that all in one day.

And this is hours after he made a speech blasting the senate for abandoning their norms mere minutes after he was the deciding vote to allow the abandonment of said norms.

Nah, he's just that evil.

To be clear, they are not voting on the BCRA right now. They are voting on a motion to waive the requirement that the BCRA needs 60 votes. The vote to waive such a requirement also requires 60 votes. This current vote has failed, meaning when they do vote on the BCRA, it will need 60 votes to pass.

GOP NOs on this motion: Collins, Corker, Cotton, Graham, Heller, Moran, Murkowski, Paul, Lee

I'm unclear on this but if a vote waiving the requirement for 60 votes requires 60 votes, what's the point of holding 2 votes?

Yeah, essentially what the Senate will be able to pass with reconciliation won't be as bad as BCRA or ACHA, but it will sh**t be poop.
