If the United States divests itself of its client state, Israel will have to find itself another protector -Russia, perhaps?    

Historically, the USSR strongly supported Israel's establishment, hoping to gain an ally in the region. It went the other way around.

I don't see Russia having interest in sustaining Israel (assuming Israel would be really unable to sustain itself, not something we can presume for sure), which would screw all the progress they made in the Arab world.
