Why is Morris County, New Jersey so Republican? Yes, I know that it is the home base of Gov. Chris Christie (R-Mendham), and others, but since when has Morris County been so Republican like the equivalent of Staten Island, New York?

It has some blue collar enclaves like Netcong that go GOP every year, although it is one of the towns that is pro-union. Interesting.

Isn't Morris the home county of Steve Forbes?

Yes, Steve Forbes is from Morris County. He was born in Morristown, N.J. He grew up in Somerset County, wealthy Far Hills, N.J. Far Hills, N.J. is also where former Gov. Christie Whitman grew up and also where Andrew Schafly, the son of former pro-life activist Phyllis Schafly lives.

I suppose Forbes' demographic fits Morris County. White collar educated suburban professionals. However, there is some blue collar, working class white areas of Morris County, like Jefferson, Denville, etc. that voted for Trump easily.

Most white suburban areas are republican, even if many did trend away from Trump.

Why is that so, though? Is it simply about because of taxes, or something else?
