Relevant because this idiot might be the best GOP candidate for Senate:

Bad wording and I think Duffy is quite overrated, but I doubt this will matter in the end. If he loses, it won't be because of this. Ron Johnson has also made some controversial comments, IIRC.

I basically view Sean Duffy as a less insane but possibly dumber David Clarke.

Nothing would bum me out more than one of my favorite Senators being defeated by one of my least favorite Congressmen.

Mark my words, Wisconsin will get past its brief stretch of insanity once the Trump honeymoon is over.

In other words, in about a month.

Ron Johnson also made controversial statements and still won. Duffy earlier called Madison full of communists. I kind of agree, but that's not something he should have said and would draw unwanted comparisons to a certain former Senator from Wisconsin (we all know which one).

Wisconsin is full of people who say insane comments.
I really like Duffy, but maybe Eric Hovde would better, he's the most like Ron Johnson.
What Duffy should have said was "It was great that the Confederate Flag was removed from the South Carolina Capitol grounds, but it's too bad that it took a tragedy that horrible for it to happen."

Oh yes, the economic engine of the state is full of communists. The only city that has seen rapid job and population gains is full of radical communists. Roll Eyes

This.  If Madison is full of communists, then communism works.  It certainly works better than what Scott Walker has been doing.

Maybe a good thing (Baldwin's re-election) will come from this comment!

Sean Duffy is a sh*tty candidate and Eric Hovde would be a much better one.

Yes, but it's clear that he's using it to minimize terrorism committed by white people.

This. Wisconsin is a rough state. A lot of politicians there say tough things. Dave Obey, Ron Johnson, Glenn Grothman, etc.

Not according to Kellyanne Conway. People like her don't look like they'd commit a terrorist act.

Pretty much, though if he's going to say things which are poorly worded like this, maybe Republicans should consider someone else.

I found his downplaying of the Oklahoma City bombing in comparison to the refugee crisis in Europe far more despicable. I can understand what he was trying to say about Charleston and write it off as bad wording, but wanting to prime Americans to be more fearful of Muslims based on what's happening in a continent across the ocean as opposed to terrorist attacks carried out by radical right-wing Whites in America is such a transparently repugnant narrative manipulation.

Walker isn't that bad IMO, but I won't go there. Of course, communism really is evil. Also, Madison is known for its liberal university, and many college professors are far-left indoctrinators, and we all know how crazy college students are these days.

But I am starting to get some second thoughts about Duffy, Hovde (potentially Ron Johnson 2.0) may actually be better.

I don't really get the "understand what he meant" crowd here. What he "meant" is that the Charleston massacre was less bad than other attacks because it led to good things. I don't get why that's any better than what the comment looks like on the surface.

Which is technically true, but as a response to the question asked, it's a bit inappropriate and weird to bring that up. Also as much as I support taking down the Confederate flag, it doesn't even come close to making up for anyone dying.
