Reason #1 why Mark Warner is an HP: He is one of the biggest promoter of electronic medical records, i.e. a major driver of wasteful healthcare spending and the reason why your doctor spends most of his visit time with you on his or her computer instead of treating you. Billions of federal dollars have gone toward subsidizing faulty systems that do little or nothing to improve quality of care but a great deal to enrich tech investors and keep substandard software developers employed and well-compensated.
Wait, what?!?
I wouldn't be shocked to find out that many types of medical software are grifty, useless industries and Warner is behind them, but isn't generally speaking the lack of coordination and standardization between healthcare providers - the lack of teamwork a la NHS - one big reason why American healthcare sucks so much? And wouldn't more easily transferable electronic records help alleviate this type of problem?
