Bernie's gonna get slaughtered. This isn't a primary debate where he can resort to his 15-second sound bites.

Could CNN not have found any other Dem willing to do it?

Nah, I think Bernie is good at connecting with normal people in a town hall setting, but when thrown into a real policy debate with someone like Cruz, he's gonna look like a deer in the headlights. He just has very shallow positions, and when prompted to elaborate on them, he often got exposed by Hillary during the primaries.

I think Bernie is the wrong guy for this because he doesn't have any interest in strengthening the ACA, and while I actually agree with his POV on healthcare, you can't defend Obamacare while saying it needs to scrapped in favor of single-payer.

I wonder if this will hurt Cruz in 2018...with Bernie voters in Texas being more energized to vote against Cruz (after being reminded about how diametrically opposed Bernie and Cruz are.

Lol what planet are you living on? Cruz is going to get destroyed by Bernie when he presses him on letting 30 million people become unninsured with no plan to replace. Cruz is also much more unfavorable then Bernie.

I thought Hillary was very poor in having sound policies (Generic stuff like we want to expand Social Security without telling how) while Bernie had the most specific policy in decades in Presidential History (lifting the cap, Tax on Speculation with exact % which raised more than enough revenue while not adding to the debt) but was not focused on details.  Bernie's discussion mode is more generic & visionary type rather than a policy debate - Why do we spend 1/3rd the amount etc rather than nitty gritty's on Single Payer?

Lyin' Ted is a vicious guy who is very weak on specific policies - His budget numbers had no specifics & didn't add up But he is a tremendous debater & expert in fooling people.

I think Lyin' Ted will come out looking better to most people. And Sanders can connect better in Townhalls with ordinary people, the more people know Cruz, the more they hate him.

If I was a betting man, my money would be on Lyin' Ted!

Yeah, no. Bernie's good at speaking in front of crowds, while Cruz talks like a smug college debater.

Bernie humiliates himself every time he talks for more than 10 seconds.
