1968: Nixon doesn't run, leaving the nomination to Romney. Kennedy isn't assassinated and is endorsed by President Johnson and VP Humprey. Wallace is still a candidate. What happens? Discuss with maps.

Romney looks like he'll win up the the end, where suddenly an unsabotaged peace talks save it for Kennedy.

I think that LBJ would have never endorsed JFK with a moderate Republican candidate like Romney, Rockefeller or Nixon. He even reluctantly supported Hubert in 1968 (his prefered sucessor was Rocky).

Governor George Romney (R-MI)/Senator John Tower (R-TX): 276 EV. (43.81%)
Senator Robert F. Kennedy (D-NY)/Former Governor Terry E. Sanford (D-NC): 214 EV. (42.69%)
Governor George C. Wallace (Dixie-AL)/General Curtis E. LeMay (Dixie-CA): 39 EV. (10.12%)
