Busy day for the fash - first they clamped down on the Badlands National Park Service twitter account for posting facts about carbon dioxide pollution and ocean acidification, and now Trump is threatening federal violence against Chicago citizens:

If Chicago doesn't fix the horrible "carnage" going on, 228 shootings in 2017 with 42 killings (up 24% from 2016), I will send in the Feds!

The troops will follow the orders. Whether it will be legal, who knows. But, then, who will care about legality in a month or two?

That'll be the excuse of Trump's Administration and those who'll follow him blindly into the abyss. He's signing Executive Orders at a rather alarming rate, already has his team talking about "alternative facts" and spouting conspiracy theories, and is now threatening what'd essentially be a federal occupation of Chicago. Nah, he can't be a dictator or autocrat - impossible! Just wait until the first excuse for him to become even more authoritarian; like a White House scandal that causes him to target the press even more and crack down on them, a terrorist attack that causes him to declare a state of emergency with "temporary" suspension of certain rights, or maybe mass protests or civil disobedience (such as opposition to federal intervention in Chicago) that provokes him to declare martial law in the city and occupy it. None of this even address what happens after 4 years if he loses the election; he'll undoubtedly claim "millions of illegals voted for the Democrat, so I won" and refuse to relinquish power on those grounds.

Hm.  I am getting the feeling that the main reason he wants to build the wall is to prevent people from getting out of the US, not in. It also makes sense much more that way: walls of this sort do work if you patrol on the side from which people are trying to cross.

Then you should oppose any move by Trump to send troops into Chicago to harass people, because that's exactly what will happen.

The TEA Party was literally the biggest exercise in projection in human history. The get their guy in and he does everything they were fighting against. Hopefully true American patriots will rally to take their country back.

The local government in Chicago has utterly failed to protect its residents.  It's a national disaster there, and absolutely nothing is being done to reverse it.  I wouldn't support the President arbitrarily deploying the feds into Chicago.  There does need to be a national discussion though.  Congress needs to do something.
