Meh. Cubans do not deserve special treatment. Why shouldn't other 3rd world countries get the same treatment under this logic.

Horrible. Just horrible. This President is against freedom and individualistic opposition to oppression.

Can't wait til he's gone.

Sad to see republicans supporting illegal migration! They are bringing drugs, they're criminals, and only some are good people.

The only explanation is that Democrats are racist against Cubans!

Changing a bunch of things in the last few days of an 8 year presidency when nothing happened to trigger the changes is the mark of a petulant child upset he did not get his way. If Obama genuinely thought this policy was best for the country, why wait until now?

It's Cubanophobia from the anti-Cuban party.

Agreed. It only makes sense if he's closing the rift with Cuba.

Sounds like they just completed negotiations with the Cuban Government.

I actually agree with this in principle (we should accept Cuban defectors as refugees and not give them a special path to green cards) but this is not how these kinds of decisions should be made.

Meh. Cubans do not deserve special treatment. Why shouldn't other 3rd world countries get the same treatment under this logic.

Because unlike other third world countries, Cubans face the very real (and likely) scenario of being tortured and beheaded for 'treason'.

Clearly Obama is getting even with Hillary for losing by ending a policy her husband put into place when he was president.

Do you support giving the same advantages to people from other countries with similar conditions, such as say, Syria?

Nope.

Syrians are not entering our country illegally. We have to physically bring them here, which I oppose for many reasons, but mainly on the grounds of national security.

A far better option is to set up a safe zone within a region of Syria protected by NATO forces, until such a time until the Syrian crises is over.

Right, Cuban dictartorship is the unique regime that tortures their people. Do you actually know some 3rd world countries?

I do not support this at all. Of course, this policy was highly unfair to everybody but Cubans - and somewhat cruel to Cubans as well (this "dry land thing has cost lives). But I do not care about fairness here.

If we had a decent government in Mexico, I would have hoped we would announce an open border policy here. Alas, we do not have a decent government in Mexico.

Where other than Cuba is there a dictatorship that will kill dissidents outright in the western hemisphere? Because let me tell you, I highly doubt we are getting many illegal immigrants coming across the two oceans.

Uh, you sure it's not happening? Even a single case would be enough.

Or what about other dictatorial third world nations? Very few are Democratic.

In other words...Syrians are mooslims so I don't want them here

Yawn.

Look at all of the problems Europe is having. You can close your eyes and cover your ears all you want but we are at war with a motivated group of radicals who have the means and capability to inflict massive harm to our country, and are actively seeking to do so.

If even 1% of a million or so Syrian refugees are sympathetic to Jihad - and I guarantee you that it is higher than that - then we have big problems.

(BTW, my dad's side of the family originated from Iran, and while my dad is a Christian convert, most of his extended family is Muslim. And no, I do not hate them. And yes, they are perfectly accepted and have happy lives in ultra-conservative Oklahoma.)
