Alt-progressive, in a way that's hard to precisely pinpoint

Progressive, clearly, but with significant differences on a few quasi-marquee issues and overall style. I don't mean it as a pejorative, to be clear. There's a vibe of different in there in my mind, that I can't really get a hold of, but I still feel is there.

Yeah, that seems pretty accurate(both the description and the fact that its hard to pin down my ideology based on atlas forum postings). I might make a thread about describing ones ideology in a bit.

Yeah but LA still has an eviction moratorium, which I vigorously oppose, and they have stupid laws allowing the theft of up to $950 worth of stuff, so it’s not like I don’t have some disagreements with the state party or its local affiliates.

As for you, centre right populist?

A  fairly mainstream Republican who is still capable of thinking for himself and recognizing objective reality in the face of the Trump cult that has overtaken his party.

Populist, isolationist, protectionist. America First + MAGA. Broadly speaking, economically liberal and socially conservative.

His fault is that he all-too-often compromises his liberal economic positions in supporting GOPers who will only give the rich tax breaks once in office. I'd love for him to recognise that the GOP is the party of the 1% and of the multibillionaire, and that the party for the working-class, culture wars aside, is the Democrats, hands down (they're the ones for a higher minimum wage, healthcare for more people - the GOP wants to get rid of Obamacare! - for unions, for higher taxes on the ultra-rich).

The biggest problem is that I'm in a similar place as Joe Manchin politically and with his brand of centrism on the way out that is likely to be to make me look conservative when he retires or gets defeated. I was talking to OSR about this a bit ago because I do have some areas of agreement with Dems as you pointed out and I think my more conservative slant could be because of my geographical location. It’s possible that had I grown up in a red state I might be more open to supporting Dems at times and I’ll still support the right candidate but I’ve gotten into more disagreements with libs than cons over policy which is one of the reasons I’ve  significantly toned down discussing politics outside this forum.
